TheBalm Meet Matte - Charming

I've found my autumn lipstick, It couldn't be more typical of what you see everywhere on Instagram and YouTube around this time of year - a rich, dark burgundy lip with a super-matte finish. I'm a massive fan of red lips and my dark red fetish (sounds dodgy) is growing - other favourites include MAC Viva Glam I, MAC Diva and MAC Burgundy lip pencil.

I'm obsessed with matte liquid lipsticks, though, and did really want a shade in this formula. I refuse to pay over the odds for them these days as there's quite a few affordable versions knocking around from the likes of Sleek and Bourjois. I won't be buying another Hourglass one again (famous last words...), but this is a shade that's actually kind of hard to find in Boots. TheBalm's Meet Matte lipsticks are €15.50 which is kind of the top limit of what I'd pay - in this case, I fell in love with the shade (Charming) and a discount code with Cloud10Beauty sealed the deal.

I've never really found a product from TheBalm that I dislike, and so I'm not surprised at how much I like this. It's pretty typical of this kind of formula in that you have to be careful to apply in thin layers, and too much will result in a bit of crumbling. The effort's worth it, though, and I find a bit of a clear balm over the top works wonders if your lips are feeling a bit parched. Lasting power is really good and when I've applied in careful, thin layers like I mentioned, I can get up to 4 hours without touching up. If heavily scented lippies freak you out, do give this a sniff before you commit to it - though personally I love how this has a sweet, pepperminty scent

You can buy the Balm in some Debenhams stores, Foody's Pharmacies, Make Up For Ever in Dublin 2 and online at Cloud10Beauty.com!
