I've changed my tune on plenty of products over the years, but lip gloss is honestly something I'd ever get really excited about. Sure, I liked the odd one - but they were loud shades, and something I'd usually pair with an equally loud lipstick.
Whilst bold colours will always be my first love, I have a new (and unexpected) appreciation for nudes that now includes gloss. I think that the NYX Butter Glosses have to be the best 'segway' product, they're so light, comfortable and non-sticky that they don't even really feel like a gloss at all. It actually feels as comfortable as a good balm, and smells dangerously edible. The shade I'm wearing below, Tiramisu, is a lovely deep nude, and goes really well with that nude Penneys liner that I can't stop telling people about - read my post here.
I alway thought of MAC lipglosses as really sticky and traditional, but turns out there's more than one type. The Creamsheen Glass* (in the shade Softly Lit) is actually just as comfortable as the NYX, and looks incredibly flattering on the lips. The shade's neutral enough to go with a myriad of liners and lipsticks, and isn't half as 'milky' as it looks in the tube. This also pairs really well with the aforementioned Penneys liner (I have like 6), and also a new favourite liner of mine, Rimmel Addiction (appropriate when lipliners are your crack).
Lesson learned - never turn your nose up at anything. I'd dismissed lip gloss as 'basic' for far too long, but turns out they're actually quite nice... or else I'm just another basic bitch. Hmmm.
