Speed Reviewing Empties

I am very conscious of the fact that I have been rather quiet on the beauty front lately and I apologise for that. I moved house for the first time ever a little over a month ago and, between that and work, things have been hectic. Similarly, all of my disposable income has been going towards boring things like duvets and televisions and wine glasses so, I haven't had anything new beauty-wise for the longest time. To be honest, it's refreshing and I'm not wanting for anything at the moment - I'm happy.

In January, I started saving my empties - I don't know why as I don't tend to do these posts but, after shuffling a big bag of, basically, garbage from one house to another, I decided I may as well run through what I've used up and my thoughts/whether I will repurchase at some point and throw it all away. There's a mix of skincare, body, hair and make-up and I will try and keep it as brief as possible.

Vichy Capital Soleil Mattifying Face Fluid SPF 50: A great, great facial SPF. The matte finish is perfect for under make-up and I particularly love this for when I'm abroad. Had I not been introduced to the Kiehl's SPF, this would 100% be a repurchase.

First Aid Beauty Skin Rescue Deep Cleanser: A brilliant cleanser that gets deep down into the pores and leaves skin looking instantly cleaner thanks to the red clay base. Not to be used everyday but, a couple of times a week should see your face looking a lot less congested. Also boy-approved, will be repurchasing.

Pixi Glow Tonic: My beloved daytime toner for it's gentle, non-stripping qualities - I have been through multiple bottles of this and will continue to repurchase. Oh, and handily, it's now stocked on ASOS!

Garnier Micellar Water: Beats Bioderma and is half the price, always have a stash of these to-hand.

La Roche-Posay Serozinc: A cult beauty product for its blemish preventing properties. Again, I have a stash of these and, happily, it is now available outside of France so, get your mits on it!

Sarah Chapman Skinesis Morning and Overnight Facials: Full review here. Cannot recommend this serum duo enough - will most definitely pick up the Overnight Facial again but, probably not the morning one as I have found something I like better (more on that next week!).

Caudalie Beauty Elixir: I've fallen back in love with this as a final step to my make-up, mainly because it brings out the glow in whatever highlighter I am wearing. Probably won't repurchase as it's hella expensive but, I do love it.

First Aid Beauty Facial Radiance Pads: Good chemical exfoliant but, not a patch on my beloved Alpha H Liquid Gold.

2B Organic Cleansing Balm: Now stocked in Avoca, this gentle balm is my go-to morning cleanser. Once I'm through with the No7 one I'm using AM, I will be repurchasing.

Giorgio Armani Luminous Silk Foundation: This + Beauty Blender = Base Perfection. I was devastated when this ran out and, were it not for the other SIX foundations I have open, I would have already repurchased it.

L'Oreal Volume Million Lashes So Couture*: One of the best mascaras I have ever used. Full, blackest black lashes that hold a curl like nothing else. Go get it. Now.

Bobbi Brown Tinted Eye Brightener: I miss this so, so much. I'm trying to finish up the cream version before I repurchase but, it's just not the same i.e. it doesn't lift the undereye area half as well. Soon, we will be reunited. Soon.

Oribe Dry Texturising Spray: The hype surrounding this is warranted. If you are a flat-haired gal like myself, you need this in your life for added oomph and the best smelling tresses around. Pity it costs about 70 bajillion euro.

YSL Le Teint Touche Eclat: Another stellar foundation but, forgettable. I loved it while I was using it as it strikes that great balance between radiant skin and good coverage but, I haven't thought about it since.

Vaseline Spray & Go Body Moisturisers: I love these. They are so incredibly handy for someone like me who hates waiting for body cream to dry as they soak in in seconds. I have the Cocoa one on-the-go currently so, yes, I do and will repurchase!

E45 Intense Recovery Lotion: If you are a sufferer of the dry skin, get yourself some of this next time you are in the supermarket. It saved my skin this winter and I must pick up another bottle as my elbows, knees and ankles have suddenly turned into the Sahara desert.

  1. Loved this, Sinéad. I must pick up that First Aid beauty cleanser, sounds like it would be right up my street. I must also never buy Oribe, for fear that I fall deeply in love with it :-O

  2. I adore the Vaseline Spray & Go! Still have to pick up the Pixi toner. Regarding the mascara, do you not find it flakes a good bit?

  3. I love posts like this, Sinead. The Pixi toner, First Aid Beauty Cleanser, Sarah Champan Overnight Facial and the Oribe Texturising Spray are all on my ever expanding wishlist.

  4. Oooh I didn't know Pixi glow tonic was on ASOS! So good to know! Great reviews.

  5. I really want to try that Giorgio Armani foundation, I was a bit on the fence about the YSL didn't love it! Hope you're loving your new house!

  6. Great post, Sinead! Congratulations on the move, best of luck with the new place. I also didn't know that the Pixi was available on ASOS, that's great news! I have that YSL foundation and found it a bit thick on me but I must give it another whirl. That mascara sounds great, L'oreal actually do brilliant mascaras.
