I've said it many times before and I'm sure I'll be saying this again, but meet my new favourite red lippy. We've been seeing a lot of oil-hybrid lip products over the last couple of seasons, and I have to say this is my favourite so far.
Smashbox Be Legendary Long-Wear Lip Lacquer* (€20) is a gorgeous formula of liquid lipstick. There's plenty of pigment (though I'd always pair this with a lipliner for extra oomph).
When I posted about this over on our Facebook page (g'wan, give us a like!), I had a question or two about what exactly a lip lacquer is... the answer would be that it definitely differs hugely from brand to brand, but I'd describe the Smashbox version as a light, glossy lip colour with loads of pigment.. It's not even half as sticky as normal lip gloss (which I can barely tolerate) and leaves a light stain behind. I wore it out last weekend and was quite impressed with the lasting power - most of my re-applying was just for fun! I've been wearing a lot of matte lip products this winter, so it's been fun to switch it up with something a little more flashy and glossy.
I love the shade (Firecracker). It's a real fire engine, tomatoey red. Not as hot as something like Lady Danger, but close enough. Warm colours are always my friend, so naturally I have been gravitating towards this shade quite a bit. Oh, and a word on the applicator - it's nice and curved and works really well to follow the natural contour of my mouth.
You can get this in Arnotts or Boots online or in bigger stores. I love it, I'd often pay more for lip products (because I have an illness), and definitely think it's worth the money. Oh, and in case you're wondering what liner I used, it's a €1.50 one from Penneys! More on those very soon...
