You all seemed to love the Best in Beauty 2014 series we pushed out in late December and we equally loved curating it - it's always fun to revisit favourites and make the tough decisions about what will make the cut! So, for 2015, we've decided to introduce a monthly Best in Beauty post. This will be a collaborative effort where we spill on what we've been loving during the month that may or may not have made it onto the blog. As always, the post is shoppable for your convenience!
Dior Star Foundation - I spoke of my love for this foundation during the month and, just to reiterate, it's absolutely beautiful - probably the best foundation I have ever tried. It's fluid but, with good coverage and it manages to tread the line between glowy skin and airbrushed perfection. Highly, highly recommend. (Review)
NARS Contour Blush in Olympia - This was a product that I bought and really, really didn't like initially. I felt the contour shade was too warm and the highlight shade too insignificant to show up on my pale skin. However, for the past four months or so, I have reached for it everyday. The contour shade makes for a beautiful neutral blush on fair skin (I apply it with a duo dibre brush) and the highlight shade is perfect for setting undereye concealer - I wish they would sell it separately because this baby won't last long!
Laura Mercier Silk Creme Foundation - I rediscovered this cult favourite in the latter half of the month and have fallen in love with it all over again. It's much heavier coverage than the Dior foundation but, is still glowy and perfecting. Sometimes it's nice to wear A LOT of make-up, especially when you usually opt for a lighter look.
Clarins Huile Santal* - My beloved Sarah Chapman Skinesis Overnight Facial ran out during the month (as did the Morning Facial) so, in the interest of using more stuff up, I have reverted to using the Clarins Huile Santal at night and it's perfect for this bitterly cold weather we have been having. It's super gentle and my skin feels very nourished every morning. (Review)
NARS Dual Intensity Eyeshadow in Himalia - I bought the NARS NARSissist Dual-Intensity Eyeshadow Palette in January and I am reserving opinion on it for now. Ooh controversial. However, the shade Himalia has been a standout for me and I've been using it as a lid shade everyday. It's a gorgeous pinky-gold-bronze shade that instantly lifts and brightens the face. The formula is gorgeous but, I'm just not sure if a palette of eight is the best idea...
Dior Lip Glow & Clarins Lip Oil* - My lips have been positively ravaged this month. It’s not just that they’re dry – I had a small sore that turned into a cut on my bottom lip and was nigh-on impossible to heal. It’s almost gone now but I was barely able to wear lipstick for a good fortnight – very upsetting for a person of my persuasion! As a stop-gap between a treatment and a lippie, both of these products worked wonders and have been staples at my desk all month long. (Review)
OSKIA Renaissance Cleansing Gel* - My skin’s also been feeling the effects of the recent temperature drop. It’s extra sensitive and dehydrated – and this cleanser acts as the perfect antidote. It’s gentle, nourishing and leaves my skin feeling squeaky-clean without drying it out further. A bit of a miracle product, if I’m honest!
The Balm Mary-Loumanizer - I’ve been nosing through my stash quite a bit recently in an effort to use what I have and stop buying new bits. I’ve had this highlighter for a year now and it’s still one of my favourites for full-on, dramatic shimmer. A light hand is definitely all you need with this – I like to use a duo-fibre brush to ensure I don’t go overboard.
L'Occitaine Shea Hand Cream* - This is one new product that came at exactly the right time. I’d never tried a hand cream from the brand before – let me just say that this is 100% worth thy hype. It’s a creamy, delicious-smelling, super-nourishing formula that sinks into the skin without leaving it feeling greasy or slippy – just perfect.
Lancome Rouge In Love Lipstick 181N*- I’ll round things out with an oldie but a goodie – it must be well over two years since the Rouge in Love lipsticks came out. I started using this again because of my sore lip – I was just craving some red lipstick and remembered that this is quite a hydrating one. Well, I remembered correctly – it stayed put all evening and kept my lips comfortable and hydrated, too. If you’ve chapped lips but still crave colour, look no further!
