New Launches I Like

I don't like what I write about to be overly led by PR. New launches definitely have a huge presence on the blog but we don't write about everything we get - if we did, this would be a very boring site and content would be no different to the next beauty blog on the block. Of course we overlap with others but we always want to put our own spin on things. With this in mind, I wanted to post a quick round-up of some newly released products that I've been liking - they're certainly not all perfect but all have found a place in my routine, so, here goes!

Current Skincare Routine (AM)

Within a few days of returning from holiday, my skin took a nosedive and was the worst I had seen it in a very long time. The joys of air travel. The texture was uneven, it was incredibly dull looking and it seemed as though every pore on my face was clogged and gave the impression and feel of sandpaper. I tackled the pores first and managed to improve them a lot over the first two days (I'll have a post up on what I used for quick results in a few weeks) but, then, I needed to address the lifelessness. I totally reconfigured my skincare routine and developed one for AM, which this post is about, and one for PM and, almost overnight, I noticed a huge improvement in texture, luminosity and plumpness.

Shiseido Ultimune Review

Ultimune is a pretty hot new skincare product from the kings of Japanese skincare, Shiseido. With 20 years of research and development behind it, the concentrate promises to improve your skins immunity, maximising its natural ability to renew and regenerate itself to be more beautiful. It's a luxe product so we won't bore you with any more of its claims - what follows are our honest thoughts after over two months trialling it!

Make-Up Shake-Up

Since starting work (ahem, over three years ago) I have allowed myself to get very boring and basic with my make-up. Despite having an embarrassingly large collection at my fingertips, sleep was far more important to me and I was content with just slapping on some foundation, mascara and brows in favour of those extra 10 minutes. However, now that I am more than a bit of a morning person and get up an hour earlier than necessary to cook up some eggs, I have time to play and have thoroughly been enjoying having a dig through my stash and rediscovering some real gems, both old and new.

Sally Hansen Miracle Gel

I doubt that this is the first time that many of you are reading about this new range; coverage of Miracle Gel is absolutely everywhere and while I am a bit late to the blogging party, I have been quietly enjoying this range for the last few weeks.

Comfort Shopping

I've been feeling a bit 'blah' lately. Nothing serious, mind - just mild case of post-festival, post summer blues. Of course, when I'm feeling a little bit crappy, I am far more likely to hit the shops... and so this happened. My interest in MAC has re-ignited exponentially of late, and I'd had a press voucher for Make Up For Ever burning a hole in my pocket for months, so they were my destinations of choice last week!

Maybelline Lip Launches

Maybelline is one of the few budget brands that puts out consistently good products in terms of quality and formula. You can see some of my top picks in this Brand Focus but, today I want to speed through some of the brand's recent lip launches.

Estée Lauder: Cooler Than You Think

Before I began to blog I honestly had never even thought about buying anything from Estée Lauder. The brand simply wasn't on my radar. As I got more into make-up and heard more about certain products with a good reputation, I did try and like a few, which I suppose brings be around to the first category of makeup that I think EL excel at...

3 of the Best: Eyeliner Pens

I've always been fond of liquid eyeliner. I feel like it's the most precise, most even and (usually) the most opaque kind of liner out there. Over the past couple of years, though, gel was that little bit more en vogue, so I did spend quite a bit of time getting to grips with that formula. I still like gel from time to time but the whole pot and brush thing is a bit of a faff, and if you layer gel up for opacity, it can get messy.

Brand Focus: Indeed Labs

Indeed Labs is a skincare brand that has been taking the beauty world by storm for the last 12 months or so. As the name might suggest, there is a lot of science behind the brand and that is reflected in the high-quality ingredients and clinical-esque packaging and names of the products. While I haven't tried every product the brand offers, I wanted to focus in on those I have tried and put forward my own opinions as I have noticed that they differ in some respects from those commonly expressed online.

Michael Kors Nail Polish - Whisper, Sweet & Ingenue Review

So, Michael Kors nail polish. Not exactly a necessity but most certainly a very nice piece of kit to have in your collection! This has been my first taste of the Michael Kors cosmetic line and I have to say I've been really impressed - the quality is high and I've found it hard to think of any negatives other than the premium price point, but you really are getting what you pay for here.

Make-Up Packing

Following on from last week's travel skincare post, I wanted to divulge what make-up I packed for two weeks away. Once again, we are going on a cruise so, I need a combination of waterproof products for daytime and more dramatic, full make-up for evenings. I think I've done better than usual this year at whittling down what I'm bringing and I hope you enjoy this sneak peek!
