1. What is your favourite Christmas movie/s?
Of all time? Miracle on 34th Street (the 1994 version) without a doubt.
2. Do you open your presents on Christmas Eve or Christmas morning?
Christmas morning. I know so many people open a few the night before but, for me, the magic is best saved for the 25th.
3. Do you have a favourite Christmas memory?
The Christmas period has always been really important in my family so, we have a lot of great memories from over the years. I do still love the memory of coming down the stairs on Christmas morning as a kid, my parents creating loads of suspense, whispering things like Do you think Santa came? and me feeling like I was about to pass out with a mix of excitement and utter terror [that he would still be in the room]! I haven't experienced that in so many years but, the memory of that feeling never goes away
4. Favourite festive food?
Brussels sprouts. Yes, really! We do them cooked with shallots and pancetta and I will happily sit down with the bowl and a spoon and devour the lot!
5. Favourite Christmas gift?
This is going back a good two plus decades but, Tiny Tears. I had a pram and a cot and a full wardrobe of tiny dresses and she became my best friend - until my sister came along a few years later and suddenly I had a real life Tiny Tears! Second favourite was the tricycle I got the same year - I was a weapon on that thing!
6. Favourite Christmas scent?
Cinnamon and cloves. This candle is what Christmas has always smelled like to me.
7. Do you have any Christmas Eve traditions?
When we were little, we would all congregate in my nana's (as seen below!) after Christmas Eve mass and she would make us her speciality ham sandwiches (really, just standard ham sandwiches but, nana's always tasted best!). Now, I spend Christmas Eve with Kev and his family before coming home to eat cheese and drink champagne with my mam. Both are equally as enjoyable but, I do miss the childlike excitement of Christmas Eve (and of being able to eat white bread!).
8. What tops your tree?
We have big tree and a small tree and both are topped with gold stars.
9. As a kid what was the one (crazy, wild, extravagant) gift you always asked for but never received?
I can't recall anything I wanted as a kid but, probably something like a Playstation. Dee had one (we were champions at Tony Hawk) but, my mam was quite anti-video games I seem to remember. Although, now that I think about it, I was permanently glued to computer games so, I'm not sure where the logic was in that...
10. What's the best part about Christmas for you?
It's the feeling. I never feel the way that I feel around Christmas at any other time of the year and it's all I really recall about Christmases past. I suppose I just feel genuinely happy and at peace and that's definitely the best part.
I tag everyone to do this - especially you, Dee! Even if you don't have a blog, I would love to hear some of your favourite Christmas memories in the comments!
