Best in Beauty 2014: Bases and Cheeks

S: I don't always use a primer but, when I do, I reach for the Hourglass Mineral Veil as it's the most smoothing and prolonging one I've tried.

D: It's all about the Hourglass Veil Mineral Primer. It's just the most incredible stuff - it keeps my skin matte, helps make-up last longer and has a beautiful, velvety texture.

S: I have had a good year foundation - wise; rediscovering YSL Le Teint Touche Eclat and Giorgio Armani Luminous Silk as well as finding a new favourite is Make Up For Ever HD. However,  I'm going to give this one to Luminous Silk as I have never gone from feeling so meh about a product to worrying I'm going to run out!

D: I am obsessed with bases so this is a tough one but, for overall reliability and lasting power I have to give it to the Shiseido UV Protective Liquid Foundation.

S: Bobbi Brown Tinted Eye Brightener every single time. I'm on my third one of these and nothing sits as well under the eye or cancels out darkness like this stuff. (Review)

D: For undereyes, my absolute favourite brightening concealer is Clarins Instant Concealer - it's light and hydrating but hides a multitude of sins.

S: Hmm probably the NARS Radiant Creamy Concealer as it's the only one I have used with any frequency this year. I find it great for both spots and under the eye.

D: love MAC Pro Longwear - it hides a lot and sits really well on my skin without drying it out.

S: Another nod to NARS with the Translucent Crystal Light Reflecting Pressed Powder. This is just a beautiful, finely milled powder than enhances skin rather than smothering it and the fact that it's entirely translucent means it doesn't upset the shade of your foundation.

D: Damn, this is hard because I love quite a few, but the best powder discovery of 2014 just has to be NARS Light Reflecting Pressed Setting Powder. It is the stuff of magic.

S: I don't want to have to choose...allow me to pick two? NARS Douceur as the ultimate in a neutral blush (incredible formula as all NARS blushes are) but, this has been discontinued [whyyyyy] so, Hourglass Mood Exposure for the way it literally brings my complexion to life.

D: I love a good blush and 2014 has been The Year Of The Neutral for both myself and Sinéad. As a consequence, Hourglass Mood Exposure just has to get the crown!

S: NARS again! The Contour Blush in Olympia has doubled as both my bronzer and contour this year as it is the perfect grey brown shade. I didn't get this product when I first bought it but, now it's one I use every single day.

D:  Bobbi Brown Bronzing Powder in Golden Light just has to win this one.It has enough grey in it to act as a slight contour, and enough warmth in it to still do what a bronzer should do: make me look healthier and a little more tanned and glowy. (Review)

S: Laura Mercier Matte Radiance Baked Powder in Highlight 01. Shit name but, incredibly good, neutral-toned highlight that adds a subtle glow rather than an all out shimmer.

D: Dior just kill it for me in terms of highlighting powders - and I am a fiend for them! Their summer release, Diorskin Nude Tan Transat Edition, was probably my favourite luxury item of the year. This was limited edition but, if you are really quick, you can still find it here! (Review)
