Forgotten Products #2

Back in March I did a post on some great products that had lain forgotten in the depths of my collection. I've been pretty good since then, using a lot more of what I already have and (trying) to make better purchasing choices. However, there are a few items that, while not entirely forgotten about, don't get enough love, both here on the blog and in real life. So, this is their long overdue moment to shine so-to-speak as they really are lovely.

The NARS NARSissist palette was a highly coveted beauty release. Dee and I literally fell over ourselves to order these up and, initially, we absolutely loved them. However, along came Lorac PRO and, at least in my case, NARSissist was pushed to the side. Some mornings I do grab for it but, I automatically trend towards the LORAC and Laura Mercier Artist Palette over this which is a crying shame as the shadows are great quality, super pigmented and the palette contains the absolute best of both worlds for both a cool and a neutral eye. This is back out on (I think) limited release and I would urge you to check it out as I've been re-impressed by it since digging it out. It would also make a stellar Christmas gift.

Another must-have release of the last year was the Hourglass Ambient Lighting Palette. I pre-ordered this and obsessively used it everyday for about two months. And then, along came some new highlighters and Hourglass was pushed to the side. I have recently rediscovered it after seeing it in a haul Natalie posted and have been loving it. I use Incandescent Light, the middle shade, to set my undereye area and mix that with Radiant Light for a glowy cheek. Ob-sessed. And, ditto on the Christmas gift thing!

Chanel Les Beiges powder is one of those products that I now feel a bit meh about. It's a lovely, glow-giving powder that perfects and illuminates the skin in a really natural way but, something is a bit off about the shade that I have, #10, that means I don't gravitate towards it. However, now that I am trying to use up two powders before the end of 2014, I am aiming to make more of a dent in this because it is absolutely beautiful and deserves more attention.

Finally, a foundation. I should be really ashamed for letting this one slide because Giorgio Armani Luminous Silk Foundation is an absolutely stunning product. Not only does it give skin this brightening effect but, it's a true medium coverage foundation that doesn't look at all cakey and retains a glowiness that no other foundation in my collection achieves. I was going to treat myself to Dior Star in the wake of finishing a YSL foundation but, I think I will just show Giorgio some love for the time being.

  1. I don't like my Narsissist palette very much. I love all the shades, but the execution isn't what I'm used to from Nars. I have nearly all the shades in single and duo form and I prefer using those. I have also recently rediscovered my Hourglass Ambient Lighting palette and my Chanel Les Beiges powder!! I've been enjoying both recently. I am making a concerted effort to travel around my stash and use everything, and am being very critical about buying every new release out. Regarding using up powders, I have just hit pan on my very first powder product ever: Nars Laguna!! Very proud ;).
