I've been stocking up on assorted beauty bits lately and thought it was high time to go through some of my favourites, especially as these are largely affordable and extremely useful bits and bobs. Some are products I've mentioned before in passing, others are new to me but all are great quality and budget-friendly. On with the speed reviewing...
NYX Lipliners: Peekabook Neutral & Mauve
The NYX lipliners are my absolute favourite 'drugstore' liners. They're incredibly creamy and pigmented, they last well, aren't overly drying and the shade selection is excellent. As I'm currently in the throes of a nude lip obsession, I've been experimenting a lot with their more natural shades, and Mauve and Peekaboo Neutral are both so, so spot-on - the lipsticks I've been pairing with these are Charlotte Tilbury Nude Kate, MAC Patisserie and Faux.
Gellaq Gel Nail Polish Remover
This is such a handly little kit to have - I think it was about €6 and I got it in a pharmacy on Camden Street. I love my gel manicures but have been guilty of peeling them off - this kit makes it super-easy and quick to remove gel polish, because everything's in the one place - the kit contains acetone, a couple of orange sticks and some elasticated bandage which is beyond useful for clamping acetone-soaked cotton to the nail - far better than tinfoil, actually. Having this to hand makes damage to my nails far less likely - I'm actually on to my second kit now!
Bourjois Rouge Edition Velvet: Nude-ist
Again, I've talked about this before, but it's worth re-iterating that I think these Rouge Edition Velvets are the best thing to hit Boots in forever. I hope that they release a ton of extra shades because I'm addicted - at the moment the rosy Nude-ist shade is my jam, it looks gorgeous with a light grey smokey eye.
Garnier Oil Beauty Lotion
I'm a bit of a fiend for all kinds of body butters, lotions and creams. I go through them like there's no tomorrow, and this one had been on my list to try forever, as Sinéad reviewed it some time ago and loved it because of the Tom Ford Violet Blonde-esque scent. I love it just as much as she does; it's light, hydrating and smells incredible.
Tresemmé Heat Protect Spray
I think that the best thing you can do for your hair if you're on a budget is prioritise, and a heat protectant is always at the top of my hair-related priority list (we all have one, right?! Right.)
Heat protectant is a boring enough product but it's so important and I've always noticed a difference in the health of my hair when I neglect to use one. So to cut a boring story short, heat protectant is a necessary product and this Tresemmé one is great and doesn't weigh my hair down. On to the next product!
Collection Lasting Perfection Foundation
This is my hangover / bad day foundation. It is incredible for the price and practically cures all ills - a failsafe option for dull or blemished skin. The coverage is brilliant but it still looks natural, giving a satin finish rather than a flat, matte one, and it lasts the course of the working day for me. If you haven't given this a go yet, I'd definitely urge you to give it a try because it's incredible for €7 - I mean, if this was a Dior product, I'd be over the moon with how it performs, but the bargain price makes this an even sweeter deal. I've actually had a lot of compliments when wearing this - even on days when I was feeling like death warmed up!
