Losing the Run of Myself

I have had zero interest in spending money on beauty in recent months. I think the last time I bought stuff was late July/early August and, since then, I have been on a mission to use things up. Then, SpaceNK had an offer last week for £10 off a £40 spend and I felt obliged to use it to pick up the Sarah Chapman Skinesis Overnight Facial and, honestly, that was the straw that broke the camel's back and what you see above is what happened in the space of, oh, three days!

Let me start with the SpaceNK order and also include the in-store purchases that followed. As I mentioned, I ordered the Skinesis Overnight Facial as it has been absolutely raved about. I put it on on Wednesday night and Thursday, when I was in-store at an OSKIA event, I bought the Skinesis Morning Facial. I think Dee was a bit taken aback as I am not an impulse shopper so, as she rightly put it, the Overnight Facial must be seriously impressive for me to spend on the Morning after only one use of the Overnight. And she's right.

Both products are absolutely divine. Essential oil-based, infused with vitamins and anti-aging Vitamin A, the Overnight is highly potent and leaves skin feeling smooth and incredibly nourished. The Morning is a lighter option that, despite being an oil-based serum, plumps skin, dries quickly and doesn't interfere with make-up. They are dear at €51/£45 each but, you need just one pump so, each will last a long time.

In order to get free shipping on The Order That Started It All, I plumped for a blush that both Dee and Sarah had been at me for months to get; NARS Doucer. Yes, it would have been cheaper to pay the £5 shipping but, hey, if you don't treat yourself, no one else will! They were spot-on. Doucer is right up my street in that it is a neutral, rose-brown that is totally matte. As I said on Instagram, this is Instant Cheekbones and I'm obsessed with using it. Must-have for anyone who loves these shades.

I had a press voucher from a Make Up For Ever event months ago that was burning a hole in my purse. I knew I wanted to use it to buy Smokey Lash Mascara, despite the fact it dries up after what seems like two weeks. This is the most impressive mascara I have tried in a long time and, while I probably wouldn't buy it normally, it's absolutely worth using a voucher for. I also got the famed HD Foundation in the shade N110 which is super pale and pink-based. I love this so far and, when applied with the Beauty Blender, looks very airbrushed. Finally, Dee spotted this GIANT powder brush that at €50 was ridiculously expensive and wiped out my voucher and then some but, it was so soft and big and fluffy and quality that it was worth sacrificing more make-up for. It's #130 Large Powder Brush.

Another Dee and Sarah-influenced purchase was the Kiehls Ultra Light Daily UV Defense SPF 50. I've finally finished the Vichy SPF 50 I was using and I spent Thursday totally paranoid because I didn't have any SPF on so, I didn't hesitate in barging into a closing Kiehls store and speed-buying this. So far, so good. Very light, very quick drying and negates the need for a separate moisturiser.

That's it for me for a LONG time. Granted, the bulk came from a voucher but, I still felt slightly shellshocked on Thursday night at all the new things I had to try! It has reminded me of how much I love beauty though, something I had felt I was losing in recent months.
