In&Out: Skincare

I totally ripped the idea for this post off the impeccable ttsandra on YouTube (if you aren't subscribed - go now!). I personally love empties videos as I appreciate getting an end of the line opinion on products but, I know some people feel a bit "why is she showing me her trash" about them so, I loved the idea of doing a round-up of what I have finished up and what's replacing it in my routine as it allows for information-rich yet, speedy reviews. So, here's my first In&Out post, all about skincare.

Out: Shiseido Ultimune
In: L'Oréal Revitalift Laser Renew*

I'm never going to get over running out of Shiseido Ultimune. Never. No other product has had such an obvious and dramatic effect on my skin and were it not for the fact that a bottle costs as much as my monthly train fare, it wouldn't be featuring here as an Out. However, I've replaced it with a day-and-night duo from L'Oréal that I'm really enjoying so far. I use the Laser Renew Global Care SPF25 for daytime, which is more of a cream, and the Laser Renew Peeling Lotion Night at, obviously, night as it contains glycolic acid and LHA to resurface the skin and get to work on wrinkles. This is a totally different serum to the uber-gentle Shiseido but, my skin responds really well to acid exfoliation so, I'm happy to use it up.

Out: Hydraluron Moisture Jelly
In: La Roche-Posay Nutritic Intense

Hydraluron Moisture Jelly from Indeed Labs was a lovely, deeply hydrating moisturiser to use and I was contemplating a repurchase. However, it's on its way out because I started to notice that it was stinging my skin at the end of my night routine and I can only presume it was because I was packing hyaluronic acid on top of retinol and glycolic acid and it was just one too many active ingredients. I've replaced it with an old favourite, the deeply nourishing, ultra gentle La Roche-Posay Nutritic Intense. I already had this in my stash and, in the interest of my new one-in-one-out policy, I decided to use it up before giving in to a new purchase!

Out: Alpha H Liquid Gold
In: First Aid Beauty Facial Radiance Pads

As with the Hydraluron, I was tempted to repurchase Alpha H Liquid Gold because, let's face it, it's bloody brilliant stuff. However, I'm keen to make a dent in my 'Must Try' list so, I picked up the First Aid Beauty Facial Radiance Pads at the recommendation of Dee and I am really glad I did. You get 60 pads so, perhaps they won't last as long as a bottle of Liquid Gold but, my skin is really enjoying the mix of glycolic and lactic acid and there is something so handy about having the little tub just there, ready to be used. I have also been using what's left on the pads on the back of my hands as a little anti-aging treatment!

  1. Love this style of post. I've been meaning to get around to testing the FAB pads and must do that. Also seriously lusting the Shiseido!
