Maybelline Lip Launches

Maybelline is one of the few budget brands that puts out consistently good products in terms of quality and formula. You can see some of my top picks in this Brand Focus but, today I want to speed through some of the brand's recent lip launches.

Color Elixir* (€9.69) is probably the most anticipated release as these moisturising, non-sticky glosses have been raved about by American YouTubers for some months now.

These are a two phase gloss; an interesting concept that delivers colour and hydration in the first instance and high shine in the second thanks to oil particles that rise above the colour pigment. Despite being a self-confessed gloss-hater, I can appreciate these. They feel like water on the lips and are genuinely not tacky. They do take more effort and maintenance than a lipstick so, I wouldn't wear them day to day personally but, A+ to Maybelline for actually creating a gloss that does what it promises! There are 11 shades and pictured here are the vibrant orange Mandarine Rupture and the fire engine-like Signature Scarlet.

Another late launch to our shores is the Baby Lips Electro* (€3.99) collection; a line-up of fun, neon balms that impart more colour than the originals. There are 6 shades and scents; 4 neons and 2 translucents so there is something for everyone. Pink Shock is the shade shown here.

My personal favourite launch are the Color Drama lip pencils* (€6.79). Undeniably similar to products by a certain Bobbi, these pencils deliver a hugely impressive punch of colour with a longwearing, semi-matte velvet finish. They aren't quite to the standard of formula as my beloved NARS Matte Velvets but, they are damn close and enjoyable to wear. Pictured above are the hot pink Fuschia Desire and a true red in the form of Light it Up. Oh, and they have the coveted Eldridge seal of approval too!

P.S. Sorry for the lack of swatches - the fading daylight caught me out and I couldn't capture them properly!

  1. Weird question, but do you say Maybell-een, or do you say Maybel-lyn? Lisa Eldridge pronounces it in the latter way.
