Comfort Shopping

I've been feeling a bit 'blah' lately. Nothing serious, mind - just mild case of post-festival, post summer blues. Of course, when I'm feeling a little bit crappy, I am far more likely to hit the shops... and so this happened. My interest in MAC has re-ignited exponentially of late, and I'd had a press voucher for Make Up For Ever burning a hole in my pocket for months, so they were my destinations of choice last week!

In MAC, I fuelled my growing lipliner obsession by picking up Soar, a dusty rose shade that my best friend is obsessed with. This was a great find; it has depth of colour without being loud, and looks equally gorgeous teamed with pink or nude lipstick.

I also pounced on the Pro Longwear Eyeshadow in Uninterrupted - I've seen so many make-up artists rave about this, and LustreLux on YouTube pushed me over the edge! This an expensive eyeshadow and seeing as I basically never buy single shadows these days, it'd want to be excellent.  Happily, I really do love it. It's a gorgeous deep mustardy-brown shade - when blended, it turns a little browner but it's the mustard tone that makes this a standout colour - it brings out the blue in my eyes but I think it would enhance any eye colour in the same way.

On to Make Up For Ever. Their HD Foundation* was first on my hit list and I have to say, every good thing I've ever heard about this foundation seems to be true. I've had it less than a week but it's already a firm favourite because, well it just makes my skin look fantastic. I also had passport photos taken this week and can confirm that it photographs exceptionally well. It's not the longest-wearing foundation I own, but wear time certainly isn't bad and, well I just love this stuff.

Make Up For Ever's Full Cover Concealer* is a product I've wanted to try forever and I'm so glad to have finally picked it up. I think it's very similar to my beloved MAC Pro Longwear concealer (review here) except with a little more coverage (score!) and far better packaging. I can see this tube lasting me for a long stretch!

When I was in the MUFE store my lipliner obsession came out to play again, and I picked up a one of their Aqua Lip pencils in 15C*, a gorgeous mid-tone rosy pink. It's a more obvious pink than MAC Soar but again, it's something I can pair with a million different lipsticks!

Swatches (top right): MAC Uninterrupted, MUFE Aqua Lip 15C, MAC Soar

  2. Literally have every one of these. Haha. Uninterrupted is fab, you can also use it as a contour shade - I use it all the time on myself, in makeup looks for the blog and on clients. Possibly one of my favourite mac products!

  7. Ah now, don't be swaying me. I'm thinking of two foundations for winter, now that MUFE one has made the list. Gonna need to find an investor/sugar daddy/pirate map of buried treasure.

  9. Love the MUFE concealer - it's my go-to for my undereye area cause it does not budge/crease but covers a multitude. I went into BT on Grafton last minute a few weeks ago looking for uninterrupted but they were sold out and Henry St was closing... definitely treating myself to it in BT Galway, though. I neeeed that eyeshadow in my life, see everyone on Instagram talking about it! x
