Wipes I Like?!

I know. I know. Face wipes are the devil's work, anybody who knows anything about skincare gave them up years ago, et cetera. However, real life happens.

I have what I have previously referred to as a quasi-fascist skincare routine. I cleanse, tone, treat and moisturise my skin with almost military precision and regularity... apart from the odd slip. Honestly, I'm so obsessed with cleansing that I will almost (almost) always double cleanse even with a few drinks on board. Slip-ups happen, though, and I have of course slept with makeup still on or not properly removed. In cases like these, wipes are better than nothing, right?!

I feel comfortable mentioning these because I took them away for a weekend to London recently and my skin was in grand nick afterwards, and I have been using them as my first cleanse the odd time when I'm very tired since then. While away, I used the Eyeko wipes to get off my eye make-up and Water Wipes to do the rest - I did also bring a little decanting pot of cleansing balm which I ideally would have followed up with but, late nights happened, and I didn't use the balm until the next morning.

In the past with using wipes, I'd wake up the next morning with an unpleasant residue of makeup around the eye area in particular. Now, I won't claim that my face felt as good as it would had I performed my normal routine, but it was certainly comfortable and felt far cleaner the next day than I'd expected it to.

WaterWipes* are the best of a very bad bunch because they contain no parabens or alcohol. they're incredibly gentle and fragrance-free, get rid of make-up well and don't irritate or dry out my skin. I wouldn't have bought these myself but I will repurchase and have them on standby in the future. I've use them a few times at home when I'm really tired, just to remove the bulk of my make-up before going back in with a cleansing balm.

Eyeko Mascara Off Eye Makeup Remover Wipes* are bloody pricey but incredibly handy for travel. €6 for 10 wipes definitely doesn't represent good value for money but, if you're going away they are worth investing in for a trip - nobody needs these as part of a normal routine, that's what bottles are for! Unlike most wipes, these actually work just as well as a good quality bi-phase remover would. They feel incredible on the eyes - really soothing and cooling - and easily remove even heavy eyeliner and mascara without any hassle.

One or both of these wipes are definitely worth having on standby. They might save you room in your carry-on, or if you've a heavy night ahead, chuck them under your pillow so you've zero excuse not to cleanse. As I've already said, better than nothing!
