We've both kind of dropped off from writing these update posts; it's been such a lovely summer so far and I think we've both just been far too busy enjoying ourselves! The past month has been a bit manic for me between gigs, a trip away and my birthday, so let's have a little catch-up. Apologies for the influx of selfies!
I went to Biffy Clyro back at the end of June and it was fab; I'd never been to a gig at the Royal Hospital in Kilmainham (just outside of Dublin city centre) before, and it's such a nice, relaxed venue. The weather was perfect and the gig was on point - it was actually the first time myself and my boyfriend had been to a big gig together which we both agreed was madness!
The next week myself and Jenny went to London for the weekend and managed to fit quite a bit in. We flew in on Friday and went out to Watford for the Warner Brothers Harry Potter Studio Tour, which I can assure you is a total must if you're a fan. We grew up with Harry Potter so this was a semi-religious experience for the two of us! It's not bad value at about £30 a ticket - not cheap but we would have paid more for such a brilliant experience. Oh, and Butterbeer is disgusting, for the record. On Saturday, we went on another pilgrimage to Hyde Park to see a band we were obsessed with as teenagers, the Libertines. They did not disappoint - I may have even shed a tear.
The next weekend was Arctic Monkeys in Marlay Park - I'd been anticipating this for so long as I've had bad luck with getting to see them over the years. When I was 16 I had tickets to see them in the Ambassador (hands up who misses Ambassador gigs?!) but I didn't get in! Finally seeing them was incredible, they put on an amazing (if short) show.
Longitude on the following Friday was just brilliant - I went for the day kind of as a last-minute thing to celebrate myself and Derek's birthdays which are on consecutive days. Incredible weather, a nice (if young) crowd and a great atmosphere made for the best day I've had in ages. Bombay Bicycle Club were my personal highlight - the sun was blazing as they played and it was just kind of perfect. I also ran into half the world that Friday; old school friends, the beautiful Sian and an old friend Blathnaid who is one of the only people I know to rival myself and Sinéad in terms of beauty obsession!
I don't really have any big sun holiday planned but I think the past month has done me good. If you were at Longitude or any of the other gigs that have been on recently, I'd love to know!
