Take 3: Foundations

It's been awhile since I've done one of these Take 3 posts and, when I noticed how my everyday make-up box was overflowing with foundations, I figured it would be the perfect topic to get me back into the groove! I've selected my current three favourites which, happily enough, are at three different price points but, I love them all equally!

NYX Stay Matte But Not Flat* has a terrible name but, an incredible formulation. I'm all about matte/velvet bases at the moment and this has to be one of the best I have tried. It's a medium coverage cream foundation that blurs the appearance of imperfections as a good matte should do. I love how this wears throughout the day and that, despite its low price point, doesn't oxidise on the skin. The winner here, however, is the shade. Ivory is the palest foundation shade I have EVER tried and it is perfect for my ghostly complexion.

L'Oreal Nude Magique Eau de Teint* is a foundation from last year that I loved. It is one of those water-based bases that everyone is doing now and it gives a light, dewy coverage to the skin. I am a bit discomforted by it though as I wore this shade, the lightest one, for a good portion of last summer and now it has made it into the foundation round-up because it is a perfect match for when I have fake tan on. I must have looked very tangoed - or have had mayjah blending skillz! I love this foundation formula for a really light, unobtrusive summer base.

Chanel Perfection Lumiére Velvet is the first Chanel foundation I have bought and I love it. It's like a hybrid of the two aforementioned foundations; it gives the finish of the NYX with the formula of the L'Oreal. I always catch myself marvelling at how smooth and airbrushed my skin looks on days where I wear this. It's very easy and comfortable to apply and wear and, despite the fact it's a matte finish, I never feel like I have a mask on.

Have you been loving any foundations lately?

  1. I also like the Perfection Lumiere Velvet on very oily days. It can look really powdery before my skin's oils emerge, though. My current favourite bases, which being summer are not really foundations, are Chanetecaille Just Skin Tinted Moisturiser, NARS radiant tinted moisturiser and Tom Ford Trcaeless foundation, the liquid.

  8. Ah crap, I hit enter! Anyway, what I'm loving is Barry M Flawless Matte. I think both of yiz would like it, it's the best of the big bunch I've been trying lately.
