This is one of the nicest lip launches I have seen come out of the drugstore in a long while. L'Oreal Glam Matte Intense Matte Gloss* (€11.99) are yet another incarnation of the liquid lipstick-gloss hybrid that has been tried and tested by everyone from Bourjois to Hourglass. These particular ones live up to their name; they are seriously intense!
Pictured is Fuschia Flare, a poppy neon pink. This is a little more blue-toned than MAC Candy Yum-Yum for reference. It is incredibly vibrant and, as such, no for the faint of heart but, as a lover of a bold lip, I would have no issue in wearing this out and about.
These come with a decent teardrop doefoot applicator (which I stupidly forgot to photograph) that distributes product easily and spreads it evenly, affording you a lot of control. The formula is really longwearing and doesn't separate or flake like many similar - Hourglass, I'm lookin' at you - products tend to. I showered straight after this picture and, while I didn't purposefully wash my face, the lips were perfectly intact afterwards. There is a problem though. As you can see in the above picture, there is a definite shine off my lips. Matte to me equals no shine and while the Glam Matte formula does eventually dry down to an even velvet finish, it takes forever. I did try blotting but, no bueno. Overall, I'm impressed and I prefer these over both the Bourjois and the Hourglass.
