Essie 'Colours in the Wild' Summer 2014

Inspired by women with instinctive style, tribal prints and safaris, Essie's Colours in the Wild collection for summer 2014 is a bright burst of powerful, punchy nail polishes that really stand out from the usual seasonal offerings of pastels and neons. These are real colours.

As always, this is a six-strong edit which has been curated to appeal to almost everyone. There is the requisite nude, a chic taupe-based shade, a blue verging on neon and some really earthy, summer colours that remind me of vibrant sunsets.

Urban Jungle, Fierce; No Fear; Strut Your Stuff; Ruffles & Feathers; Roarrrrange; Haute in the Heat

Apologies for the lack of swatches - I just didn't have the time before the sun went in and the rain came. Formula-wise, these are cream-based; highly pigmented and good in two coats. Usually, in these kind of posts, I pick out my standout shades. However, I feel like this collection is strong across the board - there is not one shade here I wouldn't reach for and so, I don't feel like I can play favourites. The most striking to my eye is the blue Strut Your Stuff though!

  1. Need them all! Esp the pink and blue one!

  2. Be still my heart...all shades are absolutely gorgeous!

  3. These shades all look lovely x
