Happy bank holiday weekend! The weather's really taken off this week here in Dublin and it couldn't have come at a better time. If you're at Forbidden Fruit this weekend, I am very jealous - I'm pretty sad to have missed the Saturday lineup in particular, but I can't complain too much as I've plenty of other gigs to go to later in the summer. This weekend will be spent mostly sleeping, eating and drinking - wahey! It's my dad's 60th birthday this weekend - he's quite a cool guy, if I'm allowed to say so (he's basically me with a beard). To celebrate, we had a lovely BBQ in the sun yesterday and are off to one of his favourite restaurants tonight, Kinara in Clontarf.
I hope you all have similarly lovely plans - here's a little bit of what I've been loving this week...
I always love when the sun shines in Dublin. I'm very pale and burn easily so don't always soak it up but, to me there is no better place in the sun than this city! I didn't catch a lot of it during the week but did manage to grab a few minutes in the sunshine down at the Grand Canal, and also snapped a picture of the Liffey in the blazing morning sun while passing over the new Rosie Hackett bridge.
On Wednesday, I headed to the Beaut.ie Awards with work and happily got to see two of my oldest (and nicest!) blogging friends, Laura and Leanne. We had a great laugh and the awards were pretty stellar, too - the winners were a great mix of high-end and luxury products, reflecting what a huge cohort of Irish women have been using and loving over the last year. Like our own blog, Beaut.ie has been through some changes over the years, but I'm truly delighted to see the site remain so strong, as that's most definitely where it all started for myself, Sinéad and many others in terms of blogging about beauty!
Now, for a bit of make-up chat. I had Brown Thomas points to burn before the month was up and settled on NARS Douceur. OMG, what a blush. It is a true contour/blush hybrid - a kind of dusky rose with enough mauve in it to create the illusion of cheekbones. In terms of other products, as I'm back to sleeping less and working more, I've made quite a few make-up rediscoveries as part of the never-ending quest for a quick, well-put together make-up look. My skin's been behaving a bit strangely (in a good way) and hasn't been very oily, meaning that Bourjois Healthy Mix has been back in my life - it looks fantastic with the NARS Translucent Crystal powder on top. For the same reason, quite a few cream blushes have made their way back into my rotation, as well as NARS Deep Throat, which is one of the best enlivening products of all time. Two newer (to me at least) products I have been obsessed with are the Jouer Matte Moisture Tint and Caudalie Vinosource SOS Thirst Quenching Serum, so, stay tuned for full reviews of both.
