NYX In Ireland & Irish Stockists

NYX is one of America's most popular brands, and I was really happy to find out that they've arrived here. Seeing as they've got great PR here, I'm fairly sure you all know about it by now too!

A hefty amount of NYX has landed with Irish bloggers over the past week. Now, I'm not going to insult your intelligence and pretend that I had time to test and do a proper review of every single item I received over the weekend, because I didn't and I don't think that would be possible! Instead, I'm just going to take you through a quick face of the day with some of the products that I immediately gravitated towards, and I'm sure that both myself and Sinéad will review more products over the coming weeks and months. I have to say, I knew that NYX did some great products, but I am far more impressed than I thought I'd be with the quality across the range as a whole. It's definitely worth hunting down!

For a base, I used the Stay Matte Not Flat Foundation in 04 Creamy Natural - I am seriously impressed by this. It's a rare occasion that I actually get on with a foundation that is sent to me - I am pale, I am fussy and I buy a lot of bases with my own money. It has a very similar consistency and finish to Laura Mercier Silk Creme, blends very well and looks smooth and flattering on - it did wonders for my big pores, and also lasted just as well as Silk Creme.

I used the HD Concealer on my blemishes and bags - the colour was light enough to be brightening on my complexion and I really like it. However, there has been a couple of days during the week where I haven't been 100% happy with how this was sitting on my skin, especially on the undereye area - this is probably better for redness and small blemishes. At €6.99, though, I think it's totally worth picking up.

For blush, I am loving Mauve. It's the perfect nudey colour, shot through with just a bit of peach. Perfection and amazing for the price (€7.49) - they have very strong pigment and blend well. I will buy more (if not all) of these.

Eyeshadow was taken care of with the Love in Florence palette (on top of a MAC paint pot - I can never forgo a base). I liked the warmth of the shades, especially the matte crease colour - and I will say that this is one of the best quality 'drugstore' eyeshadow palettes that I have ever used. I am a bit of an eyeshadow snob, though, and being so accustomed to long-wearing formulas, I was a bit disappointed to see this drop off and crumble a bit as the hours went by. Nothing dramatic, mind - I'm just a fussy cow, this is a brilliant everyday product.

To round things out, I am wearing a lipgloss again... this has been happening quite a bit recently, it's all very new and strange but I like it. All of the hype about the NYX Butter Glosses is well-deserved, IMO. This is a product that, I think, will convert even the most vehement of lipgloss-haters; it's just so incredible pleasurable to wear and not one bit sticky. The shade I have, Strawberry Parfait, is quite sheer but very flattering as an everyday colour. I have also worn this with a brighter pink lipliner and really enjoyed the combination. At €6.49, I'll totally be trying more.

Anything I didn't like? Well, the matte black eyeliner (non pictured) is far from a true black. In terms of what I'd like to pick up myself, I'm dying to try some of their Soft Matte Lip Creams, a couple more blushers (especially Taupe!) and definitely a red Butter Gloss. Let me know what you're most interested in!

  9. I have to second the comment about lacking stockists in Dublin...why?!?!

Poor us. Anyway, you've convinced me to add Stay Matte but Not Flat to my list. At the moment, their HD foundation is one of the few I've ever repurchased (one of the others was actually Silk Creme, but I don't use Laura Mercier anymore really) so I'm interested in a new one. I really, really love NYX - I've been buying from cherryculture.com for a few years so it's great to see stuff in the flesh before I spend my money. Assuming I can trek over to Blanchardstown or Santry, anyway. I really love their Soft Matte Lip Creams (Amsterdam and Monte Carlo especially) and Extra Creamy Round in Snow White. That last one would look really lovely with your colouring, I think.

This was longer than I intended. I get really, really excited when people talk about NYX because I just love the damn stuff.

  12. They didn't have the Soft Matte Lip Creams when I went up to the Santry stockist at the weekend. So disappointed as they were what I was looking forward to the most!

  15. Nooooooo! Outrage. I'd say they'll sell out of a lot of stuff until we all get our fill. But try again, it's definitely worth it :)

  17. Was very tempted to pick up the foundation in Ivory at the weekend but thought it mightn't suit my dry skin. It looks gorgeous on you! Also avoided the Butter Glosses (I'm a lipgloss hater!) but you've persuaded me to go back & buy one...or ten!
