L'Oreal L'Extrordinaire Liquid Lipstick
When these came out a couple of months back, I was disinterested to say the least. I just thought they looked a little flimsy and maybe not lasting enough for me. However, the positive reviews kept coming, and it was actually Mags of Emeraldeyeliner who pushed me over the edge after her mini-rave on Instagram.
It's really hard to accurately describe what kind of product this is. In short, it's a glossy, pigmented liquid lipstick with an extremely comfortable, non-tacky texture. It feels really nice on the lips thanks to the blend of pigment and oils that makes up this unique formula, which has been touted by L'Oréal as a hybrid between a lipstick, a gloss and a balm. It definitely feels a little hydrating to me but I don't think it would be very flattering if your lips are very dry.
The shade, Rose Symphony. isn't my usual grade of bold and vibrant - and I'm okay with that! It's a lovely mid-tone pink with a slightly coral undertone, which stops the colour from being too dull or pale for my complexion. It's a great one to slap on in the morning before work because it doesn't really matter if you've time to touch up or not; it wears off really evenly and also, if you do get to reapply, it goes on just as well the second time. Wear time isn't what I'd call long but it certainly sticks around for longer than I thought it would - around the same wear-time as a creamy lipstick.
The packaging bears more than a passing resemblance to the YSL Glossy Stains, but these are definitely two different beasts. The formula is softer and leaves less of a determinable stain in its wake.
L'Oréal makeup doesn't usually get me too hot under the collar, but this is a product that I've been enjoying for ages now, and I'd happily pick up another couple of shades. It is on the expensive end of 'drugstore' at €13.49 - but the quality is definitely there. L'Oréal products are on 3 for 2 at the moment in Boots, so that might take the initial sting out of the price just a bit!
