Easy Glowy Make-Up

The weather has been downright bloody gorgeous here in Dublin the last few weeks. It's amazing what waking up to a sun drenched world can do for the mood and I wish it would stick around for longer than the forecasters envisage!

While it's still clear, sunny and in the 20s, I thought I would take this opportunity to update you on my go-to sunny day make-up. This easy, effortless, bronzed and glowy look perfectly complements the laid back, carefree atmosphere that seems to envelope Ireland when the sun shines and I have worn it everyday for the past fortnight!

Firstly, I have ditched the foundation. Not so much as even a BB cream has tinted these cheeks and that's because I have been fake tanning like a mad woman which gives me the glow I need without looking too cakey or orange. I have actually devised a method of maintaining tan without it going scaley or crusty looking so, I might share that in another post as it's huge for a pale girl like me to be able to have a natural looking colour every single day and not look dirty come day 3/4!

I begin every morning with a good layer of SPF. I still adore the Vichy Capital Soleil SPF 50 and repurchased it this year for holidays. The high protection means I don't have to worry about the sun being in my face when I am out and about while the matte, dry-touch finish ensures oil control and makes it a great base for make-up.

To add a little luminosity to the skin, I have been reaching for the No7 Instant Illusions Rapid Radiance Balm*. This is a product I spoke about earlier in the year and it is great for giving skin a pearlescent glow without looking like a disco ball. MAC Strobe Cream is similar.

I conceal where needed but, another bonus of the sun shining is that my skin has improved tenfold so, I have been able to eschew concealer altogether. Instead, I have been trialling the Nip+Fab CC Eye Fix* which I got in June's Glossybox. This undereye brightener is a bit like YSL Touche Éclat in design but, more akin to my beloved Bobbi Brown Tinted Eye Brightener in results. It's light, doesn't crease and diminishes those dark circles - perfect!

For cheeks, I have reverted, as I do each summer, to the Chanel Soleil Tan de Chanel applied with a kabuki brush. This is my favourite Bronzer for a really earthy glow. However, it does have a tendency to run a little orange so, the kabuki ensure a lighter, fluffier application.

Glow comes courtesy of two products; a cream and a powder. I top my cheekbones with the No7 Instant Radiance Bronzing Highlighter*; a golden bronze cream stick that adds a healthy sheen to the skin. After buffing that out with something like the Real Techniques Stippling Brush, I finish it off and seal it in with a swish of Laura Mercier Spellbound Highlighter (which I also sweep over my lids if I'm feelin' fancy that day!).

Brows - always. Nothing has changed since this video but, I do use a lighter hand since it's for daytime and I want my face to look fresh and natural.  A slick of mascara; I've been really impressed by the Eyeko Black Magic Mascara* which was a gift bag treat at the SpaceNK launch party last week and gives a decent amount of oomph to lashes, and a runaround with a smudgy brown eyeliner; usually MAC Teddy or Bobbi Brown Coffee Brown, completes the look.

Usually I don't wear a lipstick because, after all this preening, I head downstairs to eat eggs and bacon so, that would just be a waste of lippie but, since I was taking these pics on a workday morning for ya'll, I decided to go all out and slick on my new Hourglass Femme Nude lipstick in Nude No6 which was a purchase at the aforementioned SpaceNK launch. Highly, highly recommend!
