Sometimes you find a real gem of beauty product when you least expect it. This particular star comes with a bit of a story but, I'll keep it brief.
You all know by now how much I love the Clinique Take The Day Off Cleansing Balm, right? Well, after managing to ration my tub since December, it finally ran out at the end of May and I knew I had a few other cleansers that needed to be used up before I repurchased it. I dug into my skincare drawer and came out with this little unassuming tub from a homegrown brand called 2B Organic.
2B Organic is the brainchild of one of Kev's clients, Simone, and she very kindly sent me a few products a number of months back to try out and give her feedback on as she knows I am a skincare junkie and am also brutally honest! After giving some of the products the standard 3-week trial period, the standout for me in the range was the B Cleansed Facial Cleanser, and as I had already made a dent in it, I decided to finish it up and give it a proper review.
Now, I'm quite lazy so, when I use a cleanser, I need it to remove every scrap of makeup from my face. That's why I adore the Clinique - it just melts everything away. Frankly, I wasn't sure that the 2B cleanser would be up to the same challenge as it is a lot less oily than the Clinique and I didn't expect it to dissolve the stubborn bits like brows and mascara. Thankfully it did with only minimal encouragement from a warm flannel.
Somewhat surprisingly, the consistency of the the B Cleansed is a lot more luxurious than that of its high end, mass market counterpart. Where the Clinique is almost like Vaseline in appearance and texture, this is like a body butter and leaves my skin feeling very nourished and not at all tight post-cleanse.
As far as I am aware, 2B Organic was developed due to Simone's kids having skin ailments and reacting badly to harsh ingredients found in a lot of readily available skincare. In response to this (and as the name would suggest!), Simone created a line that was organic and free from any kinds of parabens or other nasties, perfect for anyone who suffers with the likes of eczema (as I do), psoriasis and allergies.
I know a lot of you are really into cleaner living and like to buy organic where possible so, even though this product isn't as easy to access as most others we post, I did want to share it as I think it's great that local cottage industries can produce products that rival the more well-known. At €32, it's not the cheapest but, even my limited knowledge of skincare ingredients tells me that there is some good stuff in here and, when it comes to not aggravating my already angry skin, I will and do spend a little extra. I think the website is under construction but, if you would be interested in learning more about the brand, you can catch Simone on simone.tobeorganic@gmail.
