Louise Young LY34 Super Foundation Brush

By now, you probably all know how I value make-up brushes above all other facets of my collection. Whether I am using budget eyeshadow or high end, the right brushes ensure that I get the best from both. I have built up a pretty extensive collection over the years; mainly MAC and Real Techniques with some Kiko and Sigma thrown in, and have been fiercely loyal to those brands. However, this newest addition, the Louise Young LY34 Super Foundation Brush has totally shaken things up.

This is a huge, synthetic haired foundation brush. It looks, bristle-wise at least, like those flat foundation brushes that were once the norm but, the key difference is the huge, densely-packed dome shape that works to quickly buff foundation into the skin in just a few seconds...literally!

I first heard about this brush in a post Laura wrote and then, when Dee bought it and told me I had to have it, I went and ordered it myself. Both said it was really quite spectacular and neither were wrong. The reason I love it is the sheer size of the head and how it works to push the foundation into the skin with the least amount of effort possible, guaranteeing an even, flawless base.

The damage on this is €30.20 so, right around the price point of a MAC brush, maybe even a touch cheaper and I think that is a fair price for the size and quality of the brush. I ordered from which is great because it has free shipping and it took about a week to arrive. I've tried it with the Chanel Perfection Lumière Velvet, Giorgio Armani Luminous Silk and No7 Stay Perfect Superlight Foundation and it's worked flawlessly everytime. However, Dee tells me that it is a match made in heaven with Laura Mercier Silk Creme so, I will have to try that soon!

  4. This looks very similar to one of my all time favourites from Crownbrush. I love the dense dome, it's a phenomenal brush. I think I'll pick this one up to compare! x
