It's been awhile since I've done a make-up update that doesn't feature some combination of NARS Translucent Crystal Powder, Hourglass Ambient Lighting Blush or a NARS Velvet Matte Lip Pencil. After going out on Friday night and realising I didn't really use any of the above (wait - I lie, NARS Cruella made an appearance), I thought it was high time I talked you through some of my new loves.
Maybelline Big Eyes by Eyestudio* is an upcoming shadow release from the brand. Each palette contains five complementary shades and this one, in 01 Luminous Brown, is right up my street. I particularly love the shimmery mauve pink in the top left of the palette while the burnt orange on the right reminds me so much of the first time I ever got my make-up done in MAC and the girl did an orange/bronze/navy look that sounds atrocious but, was actually kinda spectacular. I think these excel more when used separately because, they are quite shimmery and have a tendency to blend together. I don't have price info as yet but, this will be such a handy palette for travelling with.
No7 Brilliantly Bare Beauty Enhancer* is an interesting product and what I feel Benefit The Porefessional intended to be but, fell short of the mark. It is a skin perfecting product that blurs lines, erases the appearance of imperfections and brings out the skin's natural glow. In hindsight, I think why I like this so much more than The Porefessional is because it has ditched the tinted aspect and added what looks to be a dash of MAC Strobe Cream to give even bare skin a gorgeous, healthy luminescence. Of course, it's pumped full of silicones but, silicones are my friend and they really work to give the skin a flawless finish which also makes this a great foundation primer. It's available now at €16.25.
Chanel Perfection Lumière Velvet is a foundation Dee reviewed last week and that I have been chomping at the bit to try. I wasn't sure if I would love a velvet matte finish given that I don't have oily skin but, this foundation is beautiful, gorgeous, amazing, spectacular...every positive adjective there is! It's super light and comfortable to wear and the shade, B10, is one of the most perfect matches I have found for my skin. I think this cost €39.50.
NARS Contour Blush is a product I have had for awhile now but, have only recently got a handle on using. It is a matte contour/highlight duo that is supposed to look natural on the skin. In other words, if you are a fan of a sculpted cheek, you probably won't like this. It simply adds shadow and light where shadow and light should be and the shade Olympia is perfection for us paler girls.
