Current Favourites

I haven't done a current favourites post in forever - I've a rake of stuff that I've been loving so, it was actually quite hard to condense products for this post! Almost everything here is stuff I haven't mentioned before so, let's get crackin'.

Beginning with the two products that I definitely have talked about before, I'm throwing Laura Mercier Silk Creme Foundation in here because not only is it one of my favourite foundations of all time, I recently repurchased it in the shade Soft Ivory and it is perfect for me. I liked Rose Ivory a lot, I could work well with it, but this is a bang-on match for my skintone. I don't think I've ever seen this shade on my local counter (and believe me, I hang around there like a bad smell), but it is on the Brown Thomas website, and I ordered this one from Space NK. If you're unfamiliar with this foundation, you can read my full review from last year here.

On to MAC Warm Soul blush... I don't know where to begin with this, actually. I've found it difficult not to use this daily - it is probably the best blush I've ever owned by MAC, and I think it'd suit almost anyone. The glowy nature of the powder means you could layer this on top of another blush, and it also teams beautifully with a good matte bronzer.

I've been having a moment with liquid eyeliner again. I've gone on and off it over the last year or so, especially because, as I rapidly approach my mid-twenties, my eyes seem to have changed just the tiniest bit. Ridiculous, I know, but I think the crease of my eyelid has lowered ever so slightly, meaning I have to be more careful than ever about transferring. For this reason, I've been trying out a couple of new ones. Stila Stay All Day Liquid Eyeliner really is as good as everyone says it is. The marker nib is the thinnest and most precise that I've ever used, the formula lasts forever and is incredibly black. Stila aren't widely available in Ireland apart from some Boots; I ordered this off Cult Beauty. Another (far cheaper) liquid liner that I've been loving for its incredible pigment is the Wet & Wild Mega Liner; I do a thinner line with this as it doesn't stay quite as well as the Stila, but I still love it because it's one of the blackest liners I've ever tried and the applicator is lovely and thin.

A mascara that I've been obsessed with is a bit of a classic; L'Oréal Volume Million Lashes in Extra Black. I have my lovely friend Jen to thank for this - her lashes always look insane and she told me it was a few coats of this, so off I trotted to Boots and got myself a tube. I've said before that I'm not hugely fussed when it comes to mascara, but this stuff is sensational! Definitely try it if you're after a good, extra-black mascara that really delivers on volume and separation. Gorgeous stuff.

On to the best bits; the lip products! As you can see, I've been on a bit of an orange/coral high recently. NARS Pop Life is one of those colours that constantly seems to be on ASOS which kind of made me think it might be a bit of a dud... it's not! It's a bit of a Mad Men coral, actually, and looks great paired with some flicky eyeliner. If your'e a bit cautious of reds, this could be a great place to start, and the formula is insanely good.

Staying with NARS, I'm also really enjoying the Semi-Matte Lipstick in Heat Wave. It's a very classic, 1950s-inspired warm red; close enough to MAC's Lady Danger, but not quite as full on or obviously orange. The formula is incredible and very comfortable to wear for long periods of time, and the tube's quite stunning too. This is my second NARS semi-matte (Funny Face being the first) and I don't know why it took me so long to buy another one - it's a standout formulation.

Finishing with something a little more sheer; The Body Shop's new Colour Crush Shine lipsticks have been getting a lot of good press and it's all well-deserved. I like a good sheer lipstick as a way of still incorporating some colour for daytime without having to worry about touchups; these really deliver in that regard as they're moisturising, feel like a balm but impart a nice, glossy punch of colour and wear off evenly and neatly. My favourite shade so far is Sunset Romance,* a slightly muted coral that I can apply easily without a mirror. I can't praise it enough and I think €12.95 is a good price for something that takes such care of the lips.

Swatched: NARS Heat Wave, NARS Pop Life, The Body Shop Sunset Romance
