Top 5: Bright MAC Lipsticks

Bright lipstick is something we just don't shut up about, ever, but I know a lot of you love it too so, I thought it might be fun to pick my favourite five bright MAC lipsticks. These are all from the permanent line - I have a bit of a weakness when it comes to limited edition MAC lipsticks so a lot of my collection is actually made up of shades that aren't available anymore - for example my favourite MAC red of all time would have to be Heartless from the Venemous Villains collection, which came out before we even started blogging - it's the perfect vampy red.

Back to the colours at hand, these are all fairly popular shades from the permanent line so, they're something that MAC will usually have in stock if you're looking to pick one up, or maybe even back to MAC for one!

Rebel: A really well-known shade that I've actually kind of neglected of late. The great thing about Rebel is that it increases its intensity as you layer it up from a winey-pinkish shade right up to a full-on dark plum. It's a bit of a chameleon colour and will suit almost anyone, in my experience!

Impassioned is, hands-down, my favourite pink from MAC. It's the most flattering bright I've ever come across, and has some coral in it, meaning it stops short of being a full-on neon. If you like pinks, you need this.

Lady Danger: My favourite MAC red, ever - a tomato-orangey red with plenty of warmth. Every time I wear this I get compliments and it pairs beautifully with a gold or bronze smokey eye. It's also one of the best MAC lipsticks I own in terms of formula - it is labelled as a matte but it's not a drying "retro matte" finish - more of an Amplified one, in my opinion! It's actually really creamy and sits very well on my lips.

L-R: Rebel, Impassioned, Lady Danger, Girl About Town, Morange

Girl About Town is kind of a nostalgic lipstick for me; it was my second ever MAC lipstick and I bought it in Sephora on the Champs-Élysées. This is actually the colour that secured my love for bold shades - it's a loud fuschia pink that I always, always come back to.

Morange: the newest addition to the bunch, I bought this last autumn so haven't really worn it enough, as I've been all about reds right through this winter. This really is an amazing juicy orange shade though - like Lady Danger, I love it with a bronzey eye and it also looks amazing with a simple black kitten flick of liner.

I'd love to know your top MAC lipstick choices, and if it's of interest, I might do follow-up posts to this one with my top MAC reds and favourite "lesser known" MAC shades - let me know what you think!

  1. OMG, my heart skipped a beat when I saw Lady Danger swatch. It's so intense and pretty and I am itching to get my hands on it! Grrr...I'm banned by hubby dearest from buying any lip products for another 3 months though. LOL!

  2. I don't have very many Mac lipsticks. I have Rebel, which I wore a lot this autumn, Plumful, which is always great, and Hug Me, which is a lovely nude on me. I should try a Mac red. Lady Danger looks lovely and not as dry as Ruby Woo, which has been on my radar, so I may swatch that one sometime.
