With the bitterly cold and harshly windy weather we've been experiencing lately in Ireland, this post is quite well-timed if I do say so myself! Dr. PAWPAW Original Balm* is a British-made, multi-purpose balm that contains the Holy Grail ingredient Pawpaw or, as we might know it, Papaya. Pawpaw is a rich source of vitamins and minerals as well as antioxidants which soothe, moisturise and repair skin which is pretty much what we all need around this time of year!
This stuff has basically been living in my bag since I received it as a sample around the end of November and I have found myself reaching for it in a myriad of situations. Mainly, I use it as a lip treatment, especially when spending a lot of time outside, as it creates this amazing type of protective barrier over the lips. However, I have also used it as a hand cream and as a targeted cuticle balm, to soothe a nasty burn I gave myself on Christmas Day, as an in-flight treatment for my eczema (yep, it flared up when I started eating carbs again around Christmas - sadface!) when I was flying to Prague and on my ankles, knees, elbows and wrists when I was prepping for a fake tan. Oh, and I even reached for it on New Year's Eve when I was adding some MAC Reflects Glitter to my eyelids and wanted it to stay put all night!
This is not unlike cult favourite product La Roche-Posay Cicaplast Baume B5 in that it can be used for pretty much anything. However, whereas that is definitely more of a hyper nourishing cream, this is a thick, slick balm that makes it a bit more suited for things like lips and cuticles - Dr. PAWPAW even suggests using it to tame baby hairs and flyaways! Currently, Dr.PAWPAW is only available here but, they are looking to get into more stockists and costs £6.95 for 25ml.
