Happy New Year's Eve! 2014 has been very good to us, both personally and on the blog, and we really hope it's been the same for you guys. If not, a new year starts tomorrow, so let's look forward to that! We thought we'd round out the year with a Best Of post - our top posts as per our stats for the past twelve months.

As Dee mentioned yesterday, 2014 has been the year of getting to grips with a nude lip and it's probably all thanks to one Miss Jenner. I never thought I would be heralding anything a member of the Kardashian-Jenner clan did but, I'm more than happy to give credit where it's due in this case as I have thoroughly been enjoying playing with liner/lipstick combos over the last few months and I thought I would share my three favourites.

2014 has been the year in which I finally, finally got to grips with the nude lip. I'd shunned it for ages in favour of brights because my lips are quite pigmented naturally. However, the Kylie Jenner lip craze was a bandwagon that I was very happy to hop on, and as a result I was introduced to the nude lipliner. I've since amassed quite the collection of nude pencils and lipsticks, and have found quite a few that I absolutely love and feel very comfortable wearing - they're mostly quite deep, mauve-y shades, and I'll hopefully have a post up on them quite soon.

Every year, our Best in Beauty round-up is a huge hit. You guys love to see what our stand-out products of the past 12 months have been and we love to revisit old favourites. This year, we are spreading the Best in Beauty posts out over five days so that we can really delve deep into why we loved a certain product and also so that you aren't stuck reading a 10,000 word essay ranging from cleansers to lipsticks and covering everything in between. As always, all of the posts are shoppable - you can click the plus signs on each product above to take you straight to the source!

We're taking a Christmas vacay from the blog next week but, that doesn't mean there won't be a new post everyday! Every morning of Christmas week, you'll find our Best in Beauty 2014 awards; skincare, nails, bodycare, make-up, we're sharing the best of the best of our year in beauty! Now, onto the Link-Up; our week in review, the best online deals and a rather drool-worthy beauty lust list!
When I left you yesterday, we had just finished up our tour at Jardin de Mont des Arts. Still feeling full from our chocolate-filled morning, we decided to forgo lunch and do some more walking to check out the Christmas market at Place Sainte-Catherine.

Our second day in Brussels dawned
bright and sunny grey and rainy. We were due to go on a three-hour walking tour of the city but, with the rain strumming a slow and steady tune against our window, it was only the promise of the best breakfast in Brussels that eventually managed to peel us from our bed.

I wasn't going to write about this Essie* collection because a) I don't have my own swatches to show you [awesome ones here] and b) I didn't think it was very season appropriate and so assumed interest levels would be low. However, it is an undeniably beautiful array of shades and, after posting them on Facebook and Instagram to many (albeit confused) oohs and ahhs, I decided they were worth a brief word.

This time of year really calls for bringing out the big guns in the skincare department. If you want some serious nourishment for skin after being out in the biting cold, here is no better way to treat yourself than with a really good-quality oil.

Missed out on anything on the blog this week? Worry not, we have the link-up so, you don't even have to go searching! Monday: Sinead opened up on the products that she doesn't hate but, doesn't quite love either. In other words, meh products! She had some controversial picks too!
Tuesday: Dee's got Christmas cosiness covered with a duo of candles that, thankfully, won't break the bank!
Wednesday: We are brow crazy here at Viva Adonis and never miss an appointment to get them seen to but, of course, we have our own favourite brow pruning products too. Dee's current favourite duo are a mix of luxe and budget.
Thursday: Don't forget to enter our Christmas giveaway in collaboration with Benefit Cosmetics. One lucky person will win the Sugarglam Fairies Christmas kit containing over €100 of Benefit bestsellers! Ends tomorrow!

1. What is your favourite Christmas movie/s?
Of all time? Miracle on 34th Street (the 1994 version) without a doubt.
2. Do you open your presents on Christmas Eve or Christmas morning?
Christmas morning. I know so many people open a few the night before but, for me, the magic is best saved for the 25th.

I feel like an eyebrow update is in order. I'm still having mine seen to by the lovely Noella in The Brow Artist - they are amazing and I'm really looking forward to my Christmas appointment tomorrow evening. I'm also still a huge fan of Make Up For Ever Aqua Brow. It's incredible - if I could pick one brow product for the rest of my life, this would be it. It's also a bit of a faff for early mornings. Sometimes I just prefer the ease of use of a pencil and/or gel, so that's where this duo come in.

I love Christmas. I love candles. Yes, I am a basic bitch.
Festivities definitely bring out the bandwaggoner in me and, for that reason, I am all over Christmas candles like a rash. I have a couple of 'nice' candles that I, ahem, 'invested' in for this winter (read: impulse purchased), and for that reason, I didn't want to make yet another splurge on any kind of festive candle.

I feel like meh is a great word to sum-up these products. They aren't bad. I don't hate using them. In fact, I even recommend some of these depending on needs/preferences. But, while I don't hate them, I don't love them either and every time I revisit them (and revisit them I do - I'm all for giving beauty a chance), I'm just left feeling so...whelmed by them all. In other words - meh.
Chanel Perfection Lumiere Velvet - I loved the finish of this when I first got it; that elusive mix of matte-meets-glow. But, then I rediscovered YSL Le Teint Touche Éclat in my collection and was obsessed with that for it's serious skin illuminating effects and then I bought MUFE HD Foundation which is like the Chanel only way more perfecting and long lasting. However, if you are an oilier gal who still likes to look radiant, I feel like the Chanel is what you need.
Sam Farmer Deodorant* - Dee raves about this stuff and in my continuous quest to live a healthier life, I was all for embracing something that would see me move away from chemical-laden aerosols. But, alas, I hate rollerball deos as much as I did the first time my mother handed one to me and, while Sam does a good job at Sweat Patrol, it's not good enough for me to deal with sticky, wet pits in the morning.
Bourjois Rouge Edition Velvet* - Caveat Alert: I love the matte finish ones of these (Nude-ist is my go-to lip at the moment). However, I think the original line-up was overhyped and under performing. Everyone talks up Pink Pong and it is nice but, nothing special in terms of colour. Equally, the formula is good but, nothing mindblowing. Meh meh meh meh meh.
NARS Satin Lip Pencil - The Velvet Matte version of these are my all-time favourite lip formula and when I had the chance to pick hot pink Yu up in an Asos sale, I did so. I do like the blue-based fuchsia tone and how easy it is to wear but, I never reach for it and that's because the Velvet Mattes are a million times better.
Make Up For Ever Aqua Cream* - I so wanted to love these but, again, it's just a case of not reaching for it that means it sits firmly in the meh pile. Yes, the colour range is phenomenal. Yes, the staying power is out-of-this-world but, they are also harder to work with because of this and I have so many other products that do similar for a whole lot less effort.
Maybelline Colour Elixir* - These are easily my favourite gloss formula but, then, I find gloss so underwhelming as it is that it's probably a bit unfair to even include these here. To their credit, they have a great shade line-up and are one of the few true 'non-sticky' glosses around but, after the way people went batshit crazy for these online, I fully expected them to convert me to a gloss lover and they just...didn't.

We're going to talk about bloating. Of the trapped gas variety. Not the hormonal variety (I can't help you there). And we're going to talk about because we all know that feeling of needing to unbutton one, if not two, buttons on your pants after eating just that bit too much. And, with Christmas dinner just a shade under three weeks away, I thought it might be a good time to share how you can easily beat the bloat after eating the equivalent of a small child in turkey, ham, roast potatoes, brussel sprouts, pudding, ice-cream, mince pies, cream, cheese and crackers in the space of about two hours! The cure? Fennel seeds.

My skin adores clay. I've found that it reacts very well to a good clay mask, as well as cleansers and other treatments that include similar ingredients. I've professed love for several clay masks over the last while (see this post), and now another has managed to join the ranks.
Icicle Lights - Argos
We take Christmas decor very seriously in my house. Everything is a gorgeous mix of sumptuous burgundys, brushed golds, aged pewters and rich greens and we have built-up an impressive collection of decorations over the last ten or so years. Since I am spending so much time working in my bedroom at the moment, I decided to extend the holiday spirit into my own space. I wanted it to feel warm and cosy without taking away from the white-on-white-on-white theme I have going on in here. I thought I would show you the few additions I made to make my room a bit more festive!

Estée Lauder is an absolute heavyweight when it comes to premium skincare and makeup - during the four years that I've been blogging, they just seem to have improved and modernised. The products have always been brilliant, but the brand's association with an older generation seems to have strengthened during the 2000s and was badly in need of a fresh overhaul. Cue their recent recruitment of Kendall Jenner - talk about a sure-fire way of reviving a brand!

If only this baby had shown up three weeks ago when I was sharing my favourite red nail polishes for autumn/winter because it for sure would have made the cut! New-in from Sally Hansen are the Patent Gloss Nail Polishes* (€8.95), a four-strong edit of slick-finish shades and this one, Moto, is my current go-to.

I have devised a way to get three full days out of a hair wash. This is huge. You see, I don't have particularly greasy hair. Yet, despite that, my hair was always crying out to be washed by the end of Day 2. It would end up looking lank and stringy and there wasn't a hope in hell that I could let it go until the next day. Now, that's all changed and I love it because I hate the whole hair washing process with a passion..

While, somewhat sadly, the traditions of Thanksgiving haven't made it to this side of the pond (who doesn't love an excuse for a huge feed?!), the shopping extravaganza that is Black Friday has slowly been filtering its way into our consciousness. Round Two of our Gift Guide is all about beauty tools! From investment purchases to some nifty little stocking fillers, there's something really useful here for whoever you're buying for. Read on for our shoppable pick of the best brushes, hairdryers and more!
I don't have a lot of free time. That's not a moan - I love to be busy and productive. However, over the last year, I have been trying give more to my health and well being. Whether that's been losing weight, investing more time into my skincare or taking better care of my teeth, I've been on a journey. Yet, I never addressed my mental well being along-the-way.
Going from work to gym to home to blogging, I didn't switch off at any point during the week and that was exhausting. At the weekends, while I was a lot more relaxed and chilled out, I was still permanently glued to my phone/iPad/laptop/camera so, my mind was never truly at ease. So, I've been focusing on getting in some downtime; just me, in my room, doing something enjoyable with no pressure attached to it and I wanted to share what little things have been making a huge difference in my day-to-day life.

For years, I totally rubbished the idea of a setting spray. I have oily skin, why would I spray anything on my face after powdering it?! Years of watching girls rave on YouTube did lead to me buying a mini MAC Fix+ a couple of years back - I wasn't all that fussed about it at the time, but more recently I've really come to rely on setting sprays.

Who doesn't love a bit of The Doors?!
I was literally singing Blue Sunday all day yesterday so, I felt it was appropos to pay homage with this post - my first real stab at an outfit/style post. Go easy on me!
The occasion? An early Sunday lunch to celebrate my grandaunt's 80th birthday.
2014 has really been the year of the eyeshadow palette for me. So many good ones have come into my life and, with Christmas just around the corner, I wanted to round-up my favourites in case you were in need of gift ideas. All are currently available, contain a mix of neutrals and I've included a mix of high-end and drugstore, pre-made and DIY so, hopefully there will be something for everyone here.
I'm a big fan of chorizo and, because I eat a high-fat low-carb diet, it fits in perfectly. Olive oil is also a great way to help me meet the daily fat quotas but, unfortunately, I don't really like the taste of it.
One day I had a wee brainwave. Considering chorizo leeches so much amazing, spicy oil when it's cooked, why not cook it in olive oil to make my own flavoured version. I did a trial run with some left over chorizo and a small bottle of generic brand oil and, 25 minutes later, I was left with a lightly flavoured, shocking amber coloured liquid.

It's no secret that we're both more than a bit Christmas-mad and when brainstorming our gift guides for this year, we were sure of three things; we wanted them to look nice, be as unique as possible, and also be as useful as possible for you guys. So, here we have it: this is the first in a series of shoppable posts, and what better place to start than with our ultimate favourite, luxury beauty! To make things easy, you can just click each product in the image below and shop our curated picks; a mix of old favourites, new loves and what we're coveting this festive season.

God. You really can't beat a good highlight, can you?
This post was spurred on by the realisation that I had basically been using the same highlighter every day since August and the knowledge that there were probably a handful more in the back of my drawer that I had forgotten all about. So, I dug them out. Some were shite and found their way to the bin but, there are some gems in this lot here and I've been circulating through them, loving how a quick sweep across the cheekbones brings winter skin alive.

Hands up who has a string of nights out on their agenda over the next month and a half? Not that I'm complaining, of course - I'm already loving the countdown to Christmas! I had my first big night out of the party season last week (a masquerade ball!) and found that in the prepping stages, the products I used gave me a real dig-out. They're products I'll definitely be keeping in my rotation for the next while, so I figured I'd share...

I bang on about the Beauty Blender as my preferred method of applying foundation. However, I've been asked a number of times how it stacks up to the Real Techniques Miracle Complexion Sponge which is a damn sight cheaper and easier to get our hands on in Ireland. So, when I was in Boots a couple of weeks ago, I threw one into my basket and have been trialling it against the original. For reference, we can order the Beauty Blender brand from Cult Beauty.
review of the Make Up For Ever HD Foundation a couple of weeks ago, a good few of you commented on my eyeshadow; what I used, how I did it, would I do a tutorial. By chance, I had actually taken pictures of the process as I wanted to attempt a step-by-step style post. This is my default, go-to eye look and it's very simple and, I like to think, striking. If you like this style of post, do let me know!
