Rimmel Scandaleyes Flex Mascara

There seems to be a new mascara on the market every week these days. Unless you are looking to spoil yourself, there is no real need to splash out on a high-end one anymore with all the excellent ones in Boots and Superdrug! As we've said before, though, the lines between high street and high-end are becoming increasingly blurred. As the price of mascaras from L'Oreal creeps closer to the €20 mark, it's probably wiser to look to the likes of Rimmel if you're looking for value on the high street. We've taken note of how much you guys enjoyed our last joint review, and are back with another - today, we're chatting about Rimmel's latest offering!

Ciaté Chalkboard Manicure

Ciaté are well-known for their unusual manicure kits at this stage. A lot of the time, it seems, they have spotted trends among nail geeks online and then turned it into more of a mainstream, profitable thing - take their Velvet Manicure as an example. They haven't stopped there, though, and keep coming out with wacky kits for weird manicures (can you sense my scepticism yet?!)

Today we're talking about the Chalboard Manicure kit*, but I've read online that the denim manicure is out soon - are you still on board with all of this, or, like me, are you just a bit tired of it all?

Real Techniques Duo-Fiber Collection

Everyone and their mother seems to have reviewed the new Real Techniques Duo-Fiber Collection* (€27.99) so, I wasn't sure if I was going to add my thoughts to the pile. However, after giving them a thorough trial run, I decided I had enough different points to make another review somewhat worthwhile!

Laura Mercier Silk Crème Foundation

Foundation is my ultimate make-up product. I've dabbled in lighter coverage of late but am still a fan of a good old-fashioned liquid base with medium-full coverage for nights out and other "special" occasions. I've kind of resigned myself to the fact that my holy grail foundation does not exist and I am better off with a "wardrobe" (read: mountain) of bases to choose from depending on what suits the occasion and my skin on a particular day.

I'd wanted to try this foundation for a very long time after reading some rave reviews online and I finally bought it last month. It was dear at €44 but I was fairly confident that I'd love it after going through nearly two Laura Mercier Mineral Powders. The shade, Rose Ivory, is probably the lightest in Laura Mercier's range, and I can just about get away with it, so if you are below an NC15 in MAC, this will probably be too dark for you.

Barry M Gelly Hi-Shine Blue Grape

I'm really not an impulse shopper but, when I walked through Boots last week, fully intending on just picking up the necessities, this shade of Barry M Gelly Hi-Shine nail polish caught my eye and was in my basket quicker than I could even think about it.

Blue Grape is a bright, cobalt blue that instantly reminded me of the Nails Inc Baker Street shade I included in my June Wishlist post. It is the type of colour that brightens up untanned skin but, really ahem pops against a tanned complexion.

25 Facts About Dee!

1. I hate almost all forms of stand-up comedy.

2. People often mix myself and my bestie Jenny up. I don't think we look that alike but we're rarely seen on a night out without each other and share a love for bright lippie, so, that's probably why!

L’Oreal Nude Magique BB Blush

L'Oreal is a drugstore brand that has shot up in my estimations in recent months. The quality and variety of products is really impressive and, because the brand is part of the wide L'Oreal family, the unique product innovations eventually trickle down from the luxe brands like YSL and Armani to the (more favourably priced) drugstore lines.

However, as with all beauty brands, L'Oreal have had their fair share of misses - you might remember that I wasn't too impressed by their CC Cream range. The L'Oreal BB Blush* is, in theory, an exciting and innovative product but, in practice, was a disappointment for me.

Chanel Rouge Coco Shine | Rebelle

Luxury lipstick is one of my favourite things, like, ever, and yes, I am aware of how silly and frivolous that may sound. Really, though, I think we should all own at least one "nice" lipstick - personally, I am way over that quota.

Chanel Rouge Coco Shine in Rebelle was a bit of an impulse pick-me-up purchase, but I do not regret it, not one bit. I had been reluctant in the past to shell out for a high-end sheer lipstick as I kind of felt it was a waste of money - more money should mean more pigment, right? Well, I'm making an exception for this one, and actually, a few more of these would be very welcome in my stash.

25 Facts About Sinead!

I saw Laura over at Buy Now, Blog Later do this post earlier this week and thought it was a lot of fun. So, I thought I would give ya'll an insight into me as I am behind the blog! Hope you enjoy!

1. I have a genuine fear of being in debt and save money all over the place to try and prevent that ever happening.

2. I love to travel and keep a travel journal as well as a bucket list of places I want to go.

MAC Veluxe Pearlfusion Eyeshadow

We've been sitting on this release for a while, so it's a massive relief to finally share it with y'all! Coming from MAC this August are Veluxe Pearlfusion eyeshadow palettes, containing a brand-new formula of shadow unlike the ones we are familiar with from the permanent collection.

MAC say:

''It’s eye shadow innovation like you’ve never seen before. A versatile powder that brings out the pigment’s pure and true colour.
The result is a glamorous, creamy and lightweight hybrid offering two distinctive effects: applied wet for a super saturation
of colour that glistens with metallic brilliance, or dry for sheer coverage with a soft, sparkling finish.''

There are six palettes in this limited edition line-up in an array of colours - today we're talking about Pinkluxe and Smokeluxe.

Karora Gradual Bronzing Moisturiser

I've been having a bit of a moment with fake tan. It's a complete 180 but, I'm loving being bronzed and healthy-not-ghostly looking! Not loving the maintenance so much but, hey, can't have it all!

My current tanning regime consists of one coat of Cocoa Brown 1-Hour tan left on for, err, two hours and then following up every second to third night with a layer of Karora Gradual Bronzing Moisturiser (RRP €14.99)* which, incidentally, will be the subject of today's post.

Maybelline Mega Plush Volum' Express

Mascara is my desert island beauty product. I mean, once the necessities like suncream are taken care of (of course!) mascara is the only beauty product I would need to feel better/more confident/more myself whilst stranded somewhere lush and tropical! Given this elevated status of beauty product, it's unsurprising that I try many, many mascaras and am quite tough on them in my reviews. I expect a lot and only when a mascara fully delivers does it get a glowing review. This mascara, Maybelline Mega Plush Volum' Express (RRP €11.99)* is about 95% of the way to receiving a totally stellar review from me and, as history probably shows, that's a pretty good overall result from me!

Nivea In-Shower Body Moisturiser

What will they think of next?! When we started this blog over two and a half years ago, I never would have thought I'd be sat here now, penning a piece about a bloody skin conditioner! But essentially, that is what this stuff is. When I got this through my letterbox I immediately thought - gimmick. Is it, though?

Essie Summer 2013

I can't think of any other faction of the beauty industry that is as fast moving as nail polish is. It seems like there is a new collection every month and, while I'm not complaining, it does make you wonder what more they can come up with! From Essie* this summer comes an explosion of colour. Inspired by the chiffon beach cover ups and pastel cashmere scarves of summer holidays, the collection features six shades and there really is something for everyone with a selection of pastels and brights to choose from.

B. Pure Micellar Water

Micellar waters have taken over the skincare market of late; they are a great, handy product to have but probably not worth over-hyping unless you are a professional make-up artist in need of a quick, effective and non-irritating cleanser.

For us "normal" people, I think micellar waters are brilliant to have on standby in lieu of makeup wipes for quick fix on a late night. For day-to-day use, they're also fantastic to get the initial layer of gunk off before going in with a proper cleanser and water. A good micellar will not strip the skin like wipes do, and should leave it relatively comfortable and moist (although further cleansing is necessary to get everything off, in my opinion)!

Current Favourites: The Sunshine Edition

Would you believe we have had close to 10 days of hot and sunny weather here in Dublin? While that may not seem like anything special to those of you lucky to live in warmer climates, here it is definitely a cause for celebration! And, with the change in weather comes a change in beauty wardrobe. Gone are the full-coverage foundations and heavy powders, at the moment I'm all about bronzed and glowy, light and natural!

YSL Baby Doll Collection

From YSL this month comes the Baby Doll collection. The collection features mix of rose-pink and gold shades and includes four shades of Mascara Volume Effet Faux Cils Babydoll (€32.50), two shades of Eyeliner Babydoll (€31.00), one Rouge Pur Couture (€29.00) and one nail polish (€21.00). We were sent a couple of bits from the collection to trial; the Babydoll mascara* and the eyeliner in the shade Rose Babydoll*.

Benefit Stay Flawless 15-Hour Primer

Benefit are notorious for new, big product releases and this one is no exception. Stay Flawless* has been launched with some fairly confident claims; it promises to help your base to stay put for 15 hours, acting as a magnet for make-up. I've used it a few times and quite like it, but is it worth €35.50?

What's in my Bag?

I don't even remember the last time I did a what's in my bag style post so, I figured it was well overdue! I love these types of posts/videos and have a sneaking suspicion many of you do too so, I decided to take a break from the norm and give you a glance at what I carry as well as a mini review on a bag I know is quite popular.

I tend to keep my handbags quite clean and clutter-free so that I can easily see what's inside. I am a big fan of pouches and pockets for organising the contents of my bags and heartily recommend checking out Muji for some durable pouches in loads of different sizes. Luckily, this bag has more pockets than even I need so, I don't have to jam it full of loads of separate organisers!

Minty Fresh

L-R: Angelica Be Mine, Butter London Fiver, Catrice Am I Blue or Green, China Glaze For Audrey, Sally Hansen Jaded.

Mint green has been a fashionable nail colour for absolutely ages now, and its popularity shows no sign of waning at all. I've amassed quite the collection of minty hues over the past couple of years, so here I'm quickly whittling down my favourites to give you the low-down on the best ones!

Wishlist: June

Well, would you look at that, we've reached the halfway point of the year! Hope you're all doing well?

May was a manic month for me. Work was busy and there was a lot of blog/magazine stuff to do in my spare time so, it felt like I didn't have a free second! I was also up to ninety preparing for my driving test which, after being too scared to sit for a very long time, I bit the bullet, dealt with my nerves and...I PASSED! Honestly, it's one of those things that hung over me for so long and that I built up to be something more than it was, it feels amazing to have finally passed!

I also actually got something from my wishlist for once! You might remember that I listed the orange Michael Kors Selma bag as one of my lust-haves for May and, well, after a massive search, one came back in-stock on Net-A-Porter and I was able to treat myself with some birthday money I had been saving. It's a beautiful bag and I find myself wanting it in another shade! Here's a look at what I'm wishing for this month...

1. BMW Z4...I wish! // 2. Hourglass Ambient Lighting Powder // 3. Nails Inc Baker Street // 4. Chanel Les Beiges // 5. La Roche-Posay Serozinc
