Estée Lauder Lipstick Envy

Forget lipsticks, this is a Lipstick. You know the one - the kind that is shiny, weighty and snaps shut with a satisfying, effortless magnetic click. The type that you delight in pulling out of your bag to reapply; the one that makes you feel like a lady when most of the time you feel like you've barely got your shit together (that last part may just be me).

This is Tumultuous Pink*, a shade from Estée Lauder's new Lipstick Envy line, which will launch in January at a hefty €30 a pop. High-end lipsticks are creeping up in price all the time - MAC's are now up to €19 - but I do feel this is worth the splurge. As soon as I clapped eyes on the range, I thought of Tom Ford's infamous lipsticks. The TF line is owned by Estée Lauder, so, being part of the same family, I wondered if these lipsticks would essentially be the same thing. Now, I don't own a Tom Ford lipstick, but I don't feel that they are totally similar. Tom Ford ones are more akin to a MAC Amplified finish, whilst this is almost like a gel lipstick.

The gel formula is probably my favourite thing about Lipstick Envy. The lipstick bullet appears almost untouched after various swipes and uses, similar to how Illamasqua's Hydra Veil levels itself out in the tub. It's a beautiful thing and something I've never experienced with a lipstick before, so props to EL for innovation. The formula is light and hydrating - very balmy, but still packs a huge punch of colour and pigment. The finish is semi-glossy and lasts well, leaving an incredibly even stain even after the gloss has gone. You could apply this just once in the morning and, even if you have no time to touch up, you'll still look grand. The shade is a fairly loud pink which stops just short of "slag" pink territory due to the rosy tone (I am a slag pink fan by the way, no hating), making it very easy to wear.

I'm no Estée Lauder connoisseur, but I am incredibly impressed by this lipstick and will be eyeing up the other shades as soon as they're out in department stores. It is dear, but €20 cheaper than a Tom Ford with an excellent formula and beautiful, chic packaging - win-win if you're looking for a treat.

  4. I cannot wait to try these out. I'm a huge fan of Estee Lauder lipsticks, they are some of my all time favourites, so worth the money if you ask me! It looks gorgeous on you! Beautiful shade!
