It's rare that I get excited about a haircare product but, as soon as I read the product spiel that landed in my inbox, I was intrigued. Redken Diamond Oil* (RRP €33.95) is a treatment for dull and damaged hair that works to strengthen it and leave it looking mega shiny. The oil is free from silicones which, in this instant gratification market where quality is often compromised, is a rarity.
I suppose the claims are the first thing I should address. Logically, I know that no beauty product can rebuild or repair damaged hair. Split ends will always stay split etc. so, I dismissed Redken's promise of "shatterproof strength" at the outset. However, I firmly believe in the transformative nature of beauty products and, while this oil won't cure my damaged hair, it does give the illusion of healthier hair.
Which, incidentally, brings me on to Redken's second claim; "multi-faceted shine". I'm not sure what's so multi-faced about it but, jargon aside, Diamond Oil delivers in the shine department like no other oil I have ever tried. Containing coriander, camelina and apricot oils to smooth, soften and condition dried up locks, 1-2 drops of the mild-scented oil through the lengths and ends of my hair gives it the same look that I love after a salon blowdry.
While, by no means, a cheap product, Diamond Oil is one of the few oils I have tried and loved (See here for a cheaper favourite of mine!). The bottle is pure luxe and the dropper is a really nice touch that enables total control of how much product you use. It's worth noting that the black bottle is for thick/coarse hair while the amber bottle is for fine hair. My own tresses fall somewhere between the two so, I just go easy on the amount I use. The 100ml bottle should last quite awhile so, if you're in the market for a good hair treatment and don't mind shelling out, you'll get your money's worth from Diamond Oil.
