My skin loves the sun. It's not that I get a tan or anything like that but, as someone who suffers with sporadic bouts of eczema, a bit of TLC from the sun's rays is the best tonic for my irritable skin. This year, I have never seen my skin look as good as if did while on holiday but, as soon as I touched down in Ireland, my skin became red, dry and scaly.
I was at my wits end with it because nothing was working for me. Then, one day, I was digging through my product drawers and unearthed a huge bottle of La Roche-Posay Lipikar Baume AP. I cracked that baby open and, within hours, my skin was noticeably improved.
Lipikar Baume AP is a lipid-replenishing body cream that hydrates, prevents irritation and wards of pesky itching. This body cream has an interesting texture in that it's more a balm (as the name would suggest) than a lotion or cream. In my mind, it feels like it forms a protective, ultra hydrating film over the skin that protects from external aggressors and gives the product a chance to work on the skin underneath.
As it is such a thick, luscious product, it takes hours to soak in - despite the label saying it is quickly absorbed! I apply it after my shower in the evening time and, when I wake the next morning, there is still residue on my skin. So, with that in mind, I wouldn't exactly recommend this as a day cream unless you want to be sticking to your clothes, your chair and yourself all day long!
This has quickly become one of those must-have products for wintertime. When I was close to tearing my hair out over the state of my skin, this is the only product that soothed and repaired it. I believe it is available in smaller size too so, if you want one just to have to try, I definitely recommend picking that up.
