It's been a good while since I updated you all on what products I'm loving. The main reason is that, for the longest time, I was wearing largely the same make-up e.g this. So, with that in mind, I didn't want to bore you by telling you yet again how much I love the Diorskin Nude BB Creme or Tarte Exposed. Instead, I've waited until my routine has been changed up enough to warrant an updated favourites post.
With the weather getting progressively colder, I'm all about hydration and treating my skin as best I can. For hands and nails I have been loving the Burt's Bees Hand Repair Cream* and also the Lemon Butter Cuticle Cream*. Both products smell divine and instantly inject moisture into my skin and also soothes any wind and cold beaten areas. I suffer awfully with dry cuticles and this is the only thing that keeps them soft and prevents me from absentmindedly picking at them!!
Another great product for winter proofing your skin is the La Roche-Posay Cicaplast Lips*. I gave this a full review recently which you can see here but, having continued to use it daily, I can still confirm that I love it and that it's one of the only balms that has helped to soothe when I get cracked lips from having a cold.
My base make-up has probably seen the biggest shake-up since I last updated you on my favourites. I was coming to the end of the Diorskin Nude BB Creme and wanted to try a new, heavier coverage foundation for something a bit different. After read Dee's review as well as Simone's and being spurred on by my sister and Sarah, I ordered the Laura Mercier Silk Creme Foundation during a recent House of Fraser 20% off event.
It is a lot heavier coverage than I am used to but, I kind of like the perfected finish it gives after favouring the dewy, beachy look all summer long. I got the shade Soft Ivory which is slightly yellow-toned and does a great job of cancelling out redness in my cheeks. It's worth pointing out that the coverage is buildable and I can usually still see my freckles through the layer I apply.
Along with the foundation, I fed my concealer addiction further and bought the Diorskin Nude Concealer. I need another concealer like I need a hole in the head but, after loving the BB Creme so much, I was intrigued by the concealer. I'm not as blown away by it as I was by the NARS Radiant Creamy Concealer but, I've been using it for over a month now and have no real complaints except that I do miss the option of having a doefoot applicator.
Another Laura Mercier product which I have worn every single day since I got it is the Spellbound Illuminator. It is the best, most perfect highlighter I have ever found and it adds a golden rose glow to cheek bones. I also regularly use it as an eyeshadow (see here) and it's like a better version of MAC All That Glitters.
Despite the wintery weather, I'm not entirely ready to give up my summer brights yet and three products have been my go-to's for over two months now. For lips, the uber bright Hourglass Opaque Rouge Liquid Lipstick in Muse as well as the Clarins Rouge Prodige Lipstick in Pink Orchid*. A note on both formulas; you will get best results from the Hourglass when applied to exfoliated, moisturised lips in one thin and even layer. Otherwise it has a tendency to separate and go a bit flaky. The Clarins Rouge Prodige formula is a joy to behold; densely pigmented and highly nourishing, I will definitely check out some more colours in this line.
I hesitated to include this final favourite as it was limited edition and is not a brand that is readily available here. This is the Tarte Amazonian Clay blush in Fantastic which was from their holiday collection last year. It is the perfect, bright, bubblegum pink and adds a lovely glow to the skin. Similar shades include MAC Dollymix and Pink Swoon as well as Sleek Pixie Pink.
So, tell me, what products have impressed you lately?
