Beauty Shopping in Belfast

I love beauty shopping in the UK - it's usually better value than here in the Republic, and there's also a selection of brands that are harder to pick up here. With my last few visits, Space NK has become my first port of call whenever and wherever I am in Britain; it's just such a lovely shop! So, with that in mind, I'd been saving a few quid to shop during a trip to Belfast last weekend. I could've bought the whole place, but had to restrain myself of course. I stuck to products that had been on my wishlist for a long time - although I now have a serious hankering for some Becca powder blushes and highlighters after lovingly swatching them - probably for longer than is socially acceptable!

Back to what I actually bought: the Kevyn Aucoin Sensual Skin Enhancer is a product that I've been interested in for ages. Basically, it's an incredibly pigmented, concentrated product that can be used as a concealer or mixed with moisturiser or a lighter foundation for a custom mix. I'm still getting used to working with such a concentrated product so the jury is out at this stage - stay tuned for a full review.

Staying with Space NK, I also picked up a Caviar Eye Stick from Laura Mercier after seeing Heather's positive review ages ago. I got the shade Cocoa; it's an incredibly pigmented and smooth deep warm brown. I can't tell you how much I love this already - it creates the quickest, most foolproof smokey eye ever - just draw it into the crease and blend with a fluffy brush like the MAC 217.

I also got a hair product - I'd been dying to try something from Phyto for ages, so plumped for their PhytoDefrisant Botanical Straightening Balm. I've only used it once but, again, I love it already - I didn't have to straighten my hair after using this with the blowdryer, which is basically unheard of for myself and my unruly mop.

My other port of call was MAC - and before you all freak out, no I did not buy an entire palette full of shadows! I just picked up a new palette for my expanding collection and the insert tray for eyeshadows. They are damn expensive these days, but I am delighted to finally have my eyeshadows in order properly, and the palettes are very sturdy and easy on the eye! I also got a single eyeshadow in Folie - I still buy them in pot form most of the time and depot myself in order to have more back to MAC items... I know.

The last item on my list was MAC's Paint Pot in Groundwork after seeing Lesley Keane use it during an IFTA Masterclass during the week. It's a nice warm taupey-brown and makes a fantastic base for the kind of warm, smokey brown eyeshadow looks I've been favouring lately. Today, I have it on with Folie in the crease and it looks great, if I'm allowed to be the judge!

So, that's it for me on the beauty shopping front for another while - if you're interested in a fuller review of any of these items, please do let me know!
