Autumn and blusher: here we have two of my very favourite things. I am relishing wearing a coat and scarf again, as well as deeper shades of make-up. All spring and summer long, I was all about the peachy-coral blush, but now it's time to break out the dusky, berry colours for cheeks...yay!
I'm slowly building up a little army of NARS blushes, and I have to confess that this shade was a bit of a red herring for me. When I bought it, it ticked all the boxes; solid review from Temptalia, swatched well, and I didn't have anything like it in my collection. When I began to use it, though, it felt just a little stiff and not too easy to blend - which is obviously a dealbreaker when working with a relatively deep shade like this one.
I think the problem that the top layer of this blush was just a little stiff, because the more I used Amour, the more I liked it - especially with a duo-fibre brush. It's such a warm, flattering colour with a very subtle satin finish which stops it from looking too harsh on the skin. Gorgeous, and worth the investment.
TheBalm Cabana Boy
After checking to see if I'd mentioned this on the blog before (we have well over 1,000 posts at this stage!) it turns out that I actually reviewed this almost exactly a year ago - seems like I really enjoy wearing it come October! You can check out the original review here, but suffice to say that this shows up as a flushed, berry sheen on my cheeks, and the quality of the powder is out of this world.
Illamasqua Naked Rose
I have been loving this blush all summer, but looking at this dusky rose shade, it really is perfect to carry in to autumn, or any time of year, really. Like one of my other favourite blushers, MAC Pinch 'o' Peach, this is a real suit-all shade and works well on practically anyone for any kind of make-up look. It's fully matte and extremely pignmented - Illamasqua blushers are my new obsession and have to be some of the best I have ever used. I've read online that they smash quite easily, though, so I am watching it like a hawk.
I'd always heard good things about this blush, but didn't really get into the whole berry blush thing for a long time. Oh my God, I don't know why I was holding back. This has to be one of the most gorgeous blushes ever, in terms of texture, shade, pigmentation and application. The warm-toned shimmer stops the shade from being too flat or dark, and it is extremely easy to blend. It's not half as dramatic as it looks in the pan, and would suit a myriad of skintones and make-up looks. I think I'll need to show you this on my face soon - in love!
