It's been a while since I did a full-on make-up kinda post, so here we are. Guess what? I think I'm getting old, because I have calmed down a lot in make-up terms over the last year or so. Don't panic - I'm still buying the stuff by the bucketload, but I've pared down my look quite significantly for a girl who used to wear flicked eyeliner, eyeshadow and bold lipstick almost every single day. Don't get me wrong, I'll always be one for colour, but a combination of being a lot busier and changing personal tastes have taught me a few things; a) I don't need to wear quite as much makeup as I think I do, b) it is possible to just wear eyeshadow and mascara, or even just mascara alone (gasp!), and c) good eyebrows are all you need sometimes.
On the subject of brows, I've successfully grown mine back, and I couldn't be happier. It sounds incredibly trivial but, I just feel like they make everything look better and suit my face so much more. They were horribly over-plucked for far too long (you can see what they looked like nearly a year ago here), and it was high time that I took advantage of their natural thickness and grew them back in. If you're in Dublin and are looking to truly sort out your brows, I highly recommend The Brow Artist. Now, on to what I have on my face!
You've seen a few of these things before, and I will link to reviews where appropriate but, there are a few other items here that I need to commend as well. I am obsessed with the NARS eyeshadow primer. Sarah's review says it all, really - it's the stuff of magic, and I will be repurchasing.
Staying with eyes, I'm getting a load of use out of this little MAC quad I made up - it's a really warm, autumnal array of colours with plenty of versatility. I'm also using Illamasqua's Medium Pencil in Vow as a brightener on my waterline and it's a great shade with plenty of lasting power.
Finally, I have been giving the Color Boost lip crayons from Bourjois a lot of love since I picked them up early last month. One thing, though (and it is a fussy complaint) - but why the American spelling of "colour"? Bourjois are French, for God's sake! Also, I really dislike how the writing wears off the packaging. Ranting aside, these are really great little products - extremely comfortable to wear, good colours and they wear off evenly.
