USA Beauty Picks

In beauty (and TV!) terms, Europe tends to be months behind the USA on product launches. And that's the good news. The bad news is that, more often than not, the beauty brands that are so incredibly popular stateside never even make it here. How that makes sense I do not know but, I thought I would share some of my US beauty picks with you in case you or a friend are going there in the next little while and want to raid the drugstore/Sephora!

The drugstore is doing great things when it comes to eyeshadow. Wet n' Wild does amazing eyeshadow palettes of 3 and 6 starting at a bargainous $2.99. Walking on Eggshells is my personal pick and the buttery soft shadows and impressive pigmentation would not be out of place in an Urban Decay palette! While we do have the L'Oreal Infallible Eyeshadows here, the US has a much greater shade range and I have been obsessed with this one in Bronzed Taupe which was from my lovely friend Sarah as part of a little trade we did. These are a well-known dupe for the ludicrously expensive Emporio Armani Eyes to Kill shadows so, they are defo worth checking out.

I had trouble whittling down the blushers that I recommend but, I finally decided on two; a high-end and budget option. The Milani Baked Blushers are so incredibly beautiful. They cost $7.99, are super pigmented and give such a gorgeous glow to the skin. I have two; Rose Gold and Luminoso, but, my ultimate favourite would be Luminoso! Of course, it wouldn't be a list of US Beauty Picks without including my beloved Tarte Amazonian Clay blushers. I have reviewed them here and here and highly recommend the shade Exposed.

Anastasia Beverly Hills is a cult brow product line that is hard to find outside the USA. The Brow Wiz is one of my all time favourite brow products for creating crisp, sharp brows and I am rationing the end of my one!

I suppose it wholeheartedly supports the theory that you don't need to spend money on high-end mascara when the two mascaras I love from the US are both drugstore! First up is Cover Girl Lash Blast. I have been using this on and off for years and can't recommend it enough, especially the waterproof version. Maybelline Full n' Soft Waterproof is a mascara that Dee and I both fell in love it and can't get over the fact that the brand won't release it here. It creates the most beautiful full, long lashes and remains my one true mascara love!

I had a hard time thinking of American lip products that were really worth recommending. Then I remembered another little gift Sarah sent me, a lip balm from the Maybelline Baby Lips Electro Collection. These are like the original Baby Lips, on speed. They are super pigmented, a million times more nourishing and just look awesome in their black and neon tubes!

Finally, the Sally Hansen Instant Cuticle Remover is the bee's knees and the cat's pyjamas when it comes to DIY manicures. It boggles the mind that they don't sell it here so, stock up when you have the chance!
