La Roche-Posay Hydreane BB Creme

Friggin' BB creams. If I'm perfectly honest, I'm actually so sick of hearing about them! I love my foundation and, as a medium-to-sometimes-full-coverage (and breathe) kinda girl, it's not the kind of product that usually makes it into my makeup. It's important to note too that the new generation of Western BB creams are very different to Asian BB (and CC!) creams - as far as I can tell, a lot of BB creams coming out here are essentially tinted mosturisers with a high SPF, whilst traditional BBs offer a myridad of skincare benefits. I am no expert, though, so please do correct me if I'm wrong!

So, enough moaning and confusion. I had this stuff sent out to me not once, but twice, so I really need to stop complaining. Initially I received a sample of the cream in Medium, which went straight to my Mam as it was too dark for me. The PR was then kind enough to send out another for me in Light, which I really appreciated! The shade's a great match for my skin as it is neither too yellow or too pink - if you are an NC15 or lighter in MAC foundations, you'll like this.

Now, on to the details - this is quite a thick cream which is pitched towards dry, sensitive skin and claims to hydrate for 12 hours. It's hypoallergenic, paraben-free and non-comedogenic (pore-clogging), contains an SPF of 20, and comes in two shades - Light and Medium. The Medium shade isn't especially deep but very blendable, and would probably suit up to an NC35.

Now, how is it on? First of all, I'll let you know what my Mam made of it. She's super-busy with two jobs right now (respect, Mammy!), so I actually just texted her today asking for her thoughts. Her reply:

''Very good n the colour is lovely. Makes u glow. Goes on great too.''

How's that for a quick summary? For once, I agree with her too! I've been wearing this to college and really-really like it. You do have to be careful not to use too much, as it is very thick, but the overall look it gives to my skin is just perfect for daytime. It's so fresh and healthy-looking - brilliant for early mornings or if you're feeling under the weather. I do use concealer and powder with this just to add a touch more coverage and longevity, but if you have normal or dry skin you mightn't need them. If you're in a rush it's also fantastic, as you're slapping on a moisturiser, skin tint and SPF all in one go when you use this.

La Roche-Posay Hydreane BB Creme is €18 for 40ml and out at the end of this month.

    1. I think the colour is a good bit paler than most 'pale' BBs, so it is definitely worth a swatch!

  2. Looks fantastic on you! Would you say it's too moisturizing for oily skintypes? x

    1. Thanks Alex! I wouldn't say that it is too moisturising but like the majority of BB creams/tinted moisturisers, it won't last as long as a foundation. It is great for off-duty days though and concealer and powder will increase longevity x
