I find these "empties" posts to be something of an anomaly. The rational side of me wonders why anyone cares about other people's glorified rubbish while the beauty-loving side adores seeing what people have used up and reading mini reviews of products. It's been a bit of an internal tug-of-war about whether or not I would bow down and accept that I really enjoy these types of posts and, it was only when I got really positive feedback on Twitter that I decided I would try my hand at writing an empties post!
Please do bear in mind that I find it very hard to finish up anything so, this stuff has been accumulated over a period of months. I'll probably only post on my empties and what I thought of the products when I have a decent amount of stuff to include so, you probably won't see another of these for quite some time!
Sure Maximum Protection Deodorant* ~ Yep, deodorant. Not the most exciting product I know but, a necessity nonetheless! I received this deodorant back before the summer when it was just released and was intrigued by the concept. You apply it before bedtime and again in the morning (if you want) and it's supposed to reduce perspiration throughout the day. I don't really have a problem with perspiration but, I obviously do sweat in the gym and I really noticed the difference when using this. I have long since used it up and have repurchased it as well as the men's version for Kev so, I think this is definitely worth checking out, especially if you lead an active lifestyle!
MAC Fix+ ~ I have gone through countless bottles of this spray, using it as a mixing medium for shadows as well as a setting spray for my make-up. Recently, it hasn't really featured in my day-to-day make-up routine as I have found a combination of products that don't leave too much of a powdery, unnatural finish on my skin. I have already written a full review of how I use this and what I think but, I will say here that while it's a product I will always have on standby, it's not a necessity. (Review here)
Vichy Purete Thermale Micellar Solution * ~ This was the first micellar water I ever tried and it is what caused me to bring one into my daily skincare routine. I used this with a cotton pad to remove the heavy layer of make-up as well as to refresh my skin in the mornings and I really noticed that my skin felt much smoother, as well as it being a really easy, quick cleansing step. If you're looking to try a micellar solution, this is a good, mid-priced option but, I doubt I will be repurchasing it until I have used up the other micellar waters I have stockpiled! (Review here)
Eau Thermale Avéne Hydrance UV Riche* ~ I only recently reviewed this super hydrating moisturiser
so, I won't spend too much time on it here. Everything I said in that post still stands and, having finished it, I'm sorry that I didn't save it for wintertime as it is a spectacularly good hydrating cream that would work really well during the colder months when my skin can get quite dehydrated! (Review here)
MAC Brush Cleanser ~ Very little I can say about this as, for me, it falls into the same category of necessity as deodorant! I've been using this for years to clean my make-up brushes and keep them in tip top condition and it does just that.
La Roche-Posay Hydraphase* ~ I'm really quite fond of this moisturiser. It got my skin out of quite a nasty state last winter and I finished up the tube earlier this year. It reminds me a lot of the Avéne so either of these would be equally as good if you're looking for an intensely hydrating yet gentle moisturiser. (Review here)
Vichy Normaderm* ~ Another moisturiser but, this time, I'm going to lean slightly more negative! This moisturiser does not sit well under make-up which is a deal-breaker for me. It also smells funky and, while it does perform well at night, it isn't what I look for in a moisturiser so, I wouldn't repurchase. (Review here)
La Roche-Posay Physiological Cleansing Gel* ~ Honestly, my favourite cleanser ever. I almost cried when I finished this bottle and would have repurchased it almost immediately except for the fact that I have a drawer of cleansers to work through! This is gentle, deep-cleaning and I'm only sorry that it didn't last until I got my Clarisonic as I think it would have worked really well with it! (Review here)
So, that's my first empties post! As you can see, I have been really focused on skincare these past few months and have been making headway into the backlog of products! I hope you enjoyed the mini-reviews and follow-up feedback on products, let me know what you think!
