Summer Lovin' ~ USA Wishlist

This post is part of my Summer Lovin' series. I'll be posting every Monday in the run-up to my own holidays in August and will be covering some of my own summer favourites!

Eep! The countdown is on and this day two weeks I will be winging my way to the great USA!

I. Cannot. Wait.

You'll have to forgive me for this post as it is slightly selfish and is serving as an outlet into which I can channel my excitement because I'm pretty sure my family all want to throttle me at this point! This isn't really a summer favourites or summer tips and tricks post as the majority of this series has been. Rather, it is a pretty picture compilation of all the beauty products on my wishlist that I am eager to check out during my brief few days in New York City.

I haven't been to America in, perhaps, 10 years so, everything I am lusting after has come from fellow bloggers and beauty videos. I would really, really love it if you would leave any product recommendations in the comments below or recommendations or tips for shopping and eating in the Big Apple in general!

Tarte Amazonian Clay 12-Hour Blush
Sally Hansen Instant Cuticle Remover
Maybelline Baby Lips
Lorac Baked Matte Satin Blush
Anastasia Brow Gel
Revlon Just Bitten Kissable Lip Stain
Maybelline Full 'N Soft
Wet and Wild Mega Last Lip Colour
Essie Nail Polish

So, as you can see, this is quite a small list but, I just can't even think at the moment! I'm sure I'll walk into the likes of Sephora and Duane Reade and impulse buy the whole shop but, if you have any particular recommendations, please let me know!

  2. I agree with tarte blush and baby lips - don't forget to stock up on origins it's much better value than over here - keep an eye out for sets in sephora where you get to try tons of products for much better value

  3. GAH I NEED that Tarte Exposed blush in my life, soooo jealous! You also need Wet n Wild eyeshadows, the 'Walking on Eggshells' palette and 'Nutty' single eyeshadow. Mini hand sanitisers from Bath and Body Works are really handy to pop in your bag and they do like 5 for $5 so can't be bad to it. Ehhh I shall return if I can help you add to your list, it's payback for all the enabling you've done ;)

  4. Nail polish in general is cheaper over there like sinful colors! Great variety in them too. Plus they have revlon whimsical (major love for that in the nail polish world :P )
Highly recommend EOS lipbalm if ye haven't tried them out. Summer fruits is supposed to be amazing! plus they are only like $3 :)
Oh and Sarah mentioned the bath and body stuff. Definitely pick up some of those :)and the OPI Avojuice hand creams. They smell phenomenal and leave your hands so soft. Can I come ? haha

  5. Another rec for Wet n Wild, their eyeshadow palettes are fantastic and the Fast Dry polish is around $1.99. Get two tubes of the Full n Soft mascara, you'll cry when you run out! I did! MAC lipsticks are $15 which is around 12 euro so worth a look too if there are ones you want. NYX are another brand to watch out for, in particular their lipsticks and jumbo eye pencils. You must be so excited xx

  7. 1) I agree with the recommendation for the Milani baked blush in Luminoso. If you prefer to go a small step up in the sheen/shimmer factor, get NYX powder blush in "Pinched". In fact, if you're interested in NYX (I hear the lippies are great), I'd suggest you make a Cherry Culture order in advance and get it shipped to wherever you're staying. Let your friend/hotel concierge know so they'll hang onto it for you. NYX has incredibly soft, buttery single eyeshadows. There are lots of MAC-NYX dupe lists online, but I can share mine with you if you email me.

    2) I've gotten the impression that MAC Brule is a 'servicable' eyeshadow for you -- it's not your favourite but it gets the job done as an all-over-lid colour/matte highlight. Given your skin tone, I think you'd prefer (maybe eventually love?) the Wet 'n Wild Brulee eyeshadow single. It leans slightly pinker than the MAC. It's creamy enough to be a good blending colour too. Pick up a couple and you won't be sorry. In fact, I have a couple of sealed ones I could send you; if you want them please email me. (Unfortunately, the pinker undertone isn't optimal for me.)

    3) Another WnW pick: the 8 pan, ColorIcon palette in "Comfort Zone". It has MAC and Urban Decay dupes in it.

    4) "Honey" Revlon Just Bitten Kissable Lip Balm Stain is a fantastic MLBB colour. I don't like lippies, but I got this one. :) Two caveats: i) some find these extremely drying (not me though), some shades more than others (I haven't read bad things about Honey); and ii) on some people, some of the colours stain differently than how they go on. Regarding (ii): On me, the Honey stain is warmer and pinker -- disappointing as I adore the first layer of products.

    5) Check out Nouveau Cheap's blog for American drugstore deals and coupons. If it's not okay to reference another blog, feel free to omit this point!

    6) Go to Sephora early on in your trip. Get samples of products that require testing (e.g., foundations, which require testing to check for oxidation), so you can feel guilt-free about purchasing items on your return trip to Sephora. :)

I hope this helps. I don't live in the States, but I'm close enough to investigate my own USA wishlist from time to time. :)

  9. Sephora own make of brushes, Kat Von D tattoo concealer, Clarisonic heads (you get 2 for $40 so it's a good saving!), EOS lipbalm, Covergirl Lash Blash! That's all my favs! x

  10. Any of the Kat Von D eyeshadow palettes - the quality and pigmentation are great, not to mention there are some stunning and unusual colours!

  11. From seeing them in various youtube videos, Milani products seem to be great! Also +1 for the Wet n Wild Comfort Zone palette - I got it on ebay and I love it. The shadows are well pigmented and nicely textured :)
