Summer Lovin' ~ Lip Products

This post is part of my Summer Lovin' series. I'll be posting every Monday in the run-up to my own holidays in August and will be covering some of my own summer favourites!

It's no secret that I'm a massive fan of lipstick. The more extreme the better and it has to be opaque or I'm not interested. However, there is something about summer that makes me want to shun the heavy cream formulas in favour of something lighter, more delicate and pretty. Here are some of my top picks for a dainty summer lip!

Clinique Chubby Sticks ~ Pudgy Peony

These little fat lip crayons have beauty junkies enamoured and it's easy to see why. Not only are they adorable and easy-to-use but, they give the perfect sheer wash of colour without being a gloss; perfect for those of you who, like me, hate lip gloss! Oh, and Clinique have recently launched 8 new shades just in time for summer and this bright fuchsia is right up my street!

Dior Addict ~ Must Have

I picked this dusty pink Dior Addict lipstick up on a whim last December. Part of an airport-special trio, this is the shade the I reach for most as it has the perfect balance of pigmentation, shine and natural colour. I don't think that the Dior Addict formula gets enough love in the beauty realm but, really, I have yet to come across a more comfortable lip product to wear.

Maybelline Colour Sensational Pop Sticks ~ Crystal Pink

I was passed this by someone who didn't like it and, initially, I could see why it was so unappealing. The colour payoff is weak and the scent can become quite sickly. However, now that I've had time to experiment with it, I have to say that I love it for creating a really healthy, natural looking lip. I've been wearing it to work over MAC Lip Pencil in Subculture and my lips always look really full and shiny without being sticky, perfect for a laid-back summer look.

Clarins Instant Smooth Crystal Lip Balm ~ Crystal Violet

One of four shades from Clarins' Enchanted Summer collection, this Crystal Lip Balm fills me with all kinds of happy feelings! Not only is it purple, my ultimate lip colour obsession but, it's also an insanely hydrating balm. While it is reminiscent of the Maybelline Pop Sticks in terms of the jelly-ish formula, this balm gives such a nice whack of colour that it would be easy to mistake it for a sheer lipstick when applied. After getting the seal of approval from Lisa Eldridge as the perfect airplane lip treatment, this will definitely be accompanying me to the Caribbean this summer!

YSL Volupte Sheer Candy ~ Sweet Fig

posted on this little beauty a few months ago and, throughout the colder weather, it got pushed to the back of a drawer in favour of some more punchy shades. However, since the sun has been splitting the stones I have found myself reaching for it almost daily. The jelly-ish formula gives a moisturising hint of colour without being too overpowering. This red shade  is perfect for sporting a work-appropriate red lip.

Revlon Lip Butter ~ Lollipop

I have already waxed lyrical about these (overpriced) tubes of goodness so, I won't repeat myself here! Suffice to say, they are the perfect compromise between a sheer lip balm and an opaque lipstick and make me fall in love with them all over again every time I use them!

Maybelline Super Stay 10H Lip Tint - Forever Coral

As with the Revlon Lip Butters, I've only posted on these quite recently so, I won't waste time repeating myself. These are a great, cheap option for adding a summer-y punch of colour to your look while still being sheer enough so as not to overwhelm. I've been wearing this beautiful juicy coral shade with a simple bronzed skin and eyes combo and have been vastly complimented on the fresh and bright result!

Swatches (L-R): Clinique, YSL, Maybelline, Carins, Dior, Revlon, Maybelline

These are the bulk of the products which I'll be sporting this summer for a bright, light lip. Let me know some of your favourite summer shades!
