The Best Powder I Have Ever Used

I'm kind of a freak for powder, and have dabbled in a good few in my time. MAC Studio Finish and Maybelline Dream Matte used to be my BFFs, but then about a year ago, Sinéad converted me to MAC Mineralise Skinfinish Natural.

We've both waxed lyrical on the blog about how great that powder is, and I totally stand by it. However, I'd been on the hunt for a really good loose powder for what seemed like eternity. I was tempted by the loose MSFN, but thought it'd be a bit samey. I also considered the loose powders from Chanel and YSL, but the Laura Mercier one won out as it had so many positive reviews, and can also double as a foundation!

There's actually a bit of a back story as to how I heard about this powder. For over a year now, Sinéad and myself have been near-obsessively watching LisaLisaD1 on YouTube. She buys and reviews an insane amount of stuff, and has been consistently using and loving the Laura Mercier Mineral Powder for around two years. I figured that if it's good enough for her, it's good enough for me!

I have the shade Tender Rose, which is a great match for me. I use this as a setting powder on top of foundation (you only need a tiny bit) by decanting a bit into the lid, swirling it onto my Real Techniques powder brush and pressing it into the skin. The RT brush is fantastic for this purpose, as it's so massive it gets the job done fast!

What really sets this powder apart from the rest is that it mattifies the skin really well, but doesn't leave it looking flat. Because it's a mineral powder, you still emit a slight glow and don't look overly made-up.  I've also used this alone as a foundation and, as a girl who loves full coverage, was astounded at how much I liked it! It still gives great coverage with a natural finish, and works really well applied with the Sigma F80.

This powder is dear at €45, but will last an age. I picked mine up at Space NK (amazing shop) when I was in Newcastle in March, and it's still going strong. I still use my MSFN for touch-ups on the go, but I'm completely obsessed with this loose powder now, and won't be without it ever again!

  3. Every review I see of this is positive! I wanted to try it myself but when checking out the Laura Mercier stand the shade range didn't cover anything that would suit me :( xo

    1. That's such a shame did you ask them to match you? I know some people mix two different shades but that would be so dear! X

  5. I've been meaning to try this for so long. I have the Stardust powder (very fine shimmer) and Simone is right... it does last forever. Love LM foundations & am tempted to give this one a go over the summer.
