Revlon ColourBurst Lip Butters

I'm a bit late to the party on this one! As a matter of principle I was trying to hold off on buying Revlon Lip Butters until I was in NYC in August. You see, they retail for a whopping €10-€12 here as opposed to the equivalent of €5 in the States. However, Boots had a recent 3-for-2 offer across all cosmetics so, I relented a picked one up to satisfy my curiosity and to see what all the hype was about.

I chose the shade Lollipop, a bright fuchsia with distinct purple undertones and some violet micro-shimmer. A lot of the collection seems to be made up of pale, heavily-frosted shades and, to be honest, I find them all vile!

Lollipop, however, is a really wearable bright. It freshens up my look for work without making me feel overly made-up and, because it is a lip balm first and foremost, it's really comfortable to wear throughout the day.

Oh, and how could I forget to mention the pigmentation! The payoff of these babies are like no other balm, lipgloss of butter I have ever tried. It's medium-sheer to begin with but, can be built-up to deliver a really bright, opaque punch of colour. What's not to love?

In fact, I loved it so much I went and got another! Again, it was 3-for-2 and I technically got it as my free item when stocking up on some essentials. This time I went with the shade Berry Smoothie.

It's a real my-lips-but-better shade and is perfect for work. It's creamy, shimmer-less and a tad sheerer than Lollipop which is perfect for daytime.

My ultimate gripe with these is the minuscule amount of product you get. For €5, I could let this slide but, when you're paying close to the price of a MAC lipstick for a glorified lip balm, it really doesn't sit well with me. I'll definitely be picking more of these up come August but, I just can't justify the prices on Irish soil.

  1. Sinead, if you'd like someone to send you some Lip Butters from Canada, say the word. We don't get the same amazing prices as Americans do, but it's far better than €10-€12.

  3. I love 'Sweet Tart' and 'Candy Apple' but 12 euro is a rip-off!! Why is it that all cosmetics are much dearer here in Ireland? xox

    1. I really don't know. I think it's because companies know that we'll pay the prices, even if they are unfair! So annoying though! x

  6. I've just reviewed lollipop myself over on my blog, and recently did a review of tutti fruitti. I love these Revlon lip butters! Thankfully I got mine whilst Boots had their 3 for 2 offer on all beauty brands so it was a little less expensive for me! xo

  7. Trip to NYC? I'm going in July, I've already started my mac shopping list! So bold but the makeup is so much cheaper. Anything else you want to buy when you're over there?

    1. Yes, have never been before! Em Tarte Amazonian Clay blushes are the main thing! There is a MAC Pro store in the city but, it's literally just behind and black door and not signposted or anything so, make sure you get the address of that to get the best selection!

  8. €12 is such a rip off, as much as these look fantastic and worth a try I'd rather the MAC lipstick anyday...

    1. Yep, such a rip and I'd never buy without a deal (won't be buying anymore here anyhow!) and it kinda puts the MAC prices for lip stuff into perspective!
