3 Bright Spring Polishes from Models Own and Bourjois

Nail polish and bright colours are both extremely close to my heart. I'm just after doing my nails and now, as I write this, I have about 25 tabs on my browser open with various items from ASOS that I'm lusting after, the majority of which are bright summer skirts and dresses. It's official - I'm in spring/summer mode, and what better way to celebrate than with some pretty polishes?

First I wanted to show two polishes that I got in the post from Models Own this week. If you take a look at my (now outdated) nail polish collection, you'll see that I'm a massive fan of the brand. I love the bottles, the colours and the formula, which is on the right side of thin, and dries quite 'hard', if that makes any sense.

First up is a fairly 'out-there' colour, Sun Kissed. It's a golden, shimmery yellow that definitely isn't for the faint-hearted. I do still think this shade is wearable, though, especially with a tan in the summer or if you have  a darker skintone, this would look amazing. Yellows were huge last summer with the launch of Chanel Mimosa, and they seem to still be popular this year. Sun Kissed actually looks to be a pretty good dupe of Mimosa, so if you're still mourning not getting your mitts on that last year, this is well worth a look.

The second Models Own shade I have is decidedly more wearable and 'safe', but still extremely bright and summery. Blooming Pink is an absolutely gorgeous fuchsia pink with some shimmer. I can't think of anyone that wouldn't like this, but then I am biased as I'm kind of obsessed with pink nail polish! I wore this during the week and it lasted really well. I love it and have a feeling that this will be a firm favourite of mine through the summer.

Finally, another nail polish that I am seriously excited about is the Bourjois 10 Day Nail Enamel in Shade 26. This is a lovely, bright pinkish lilac - my absolute favourite shade for spring. The lovely Simone posted me this over from Bahrain as part of a recent swap we did, but it's available here too. I'm really, really impressed with how this lasts on my nails. No matter what I do, on average I am lucky to get 2-3 days out of a manicure, but this has lasted up to about six days on me which was previously unheard of! The formulation is super easy to work with and dries to a hardened, glossy finish. The brush is angled and perfect for touch-ups, meaning you could easily get ten days out of a manicure with this including some minor repair work!
I honestly think that this is one of the best formulas of nail polish that I've ever come across, and will definitely be picking up more. There's a gorgeous coral that has my name on it! Below is a picture of my nails after four days:

What are your favourite bright polishes? Anything else that I should try?

I'm nervy around yellows now since my last attempt left me with stained nails which i'm still trying to grow out!!

    1. Do you use a base coat? They usually prevent staining x
