New From Avon: Nailwear Pro+ and Superextend Extreme Mascara

This evening saw the launch of two new lines for spring from Avon, a brand that we have both really come to admire for their fantastic quality at a great price point - not to mention their good ethics and support for breast cancer and domestic violence worldwide. I was there to check out the goods courtesy of the gorgeous MUA Jackie Tyson. We had a great chat and she informed me that she is currently doing makeup for Steps' new tour - don't say that I never find out anything for you guys ;) The girls put on a great spread - there were even nail polish and mascara-shaped cookies...delish!

Almost everything I have tried from Avon is something that I would repurchase again, with the exception of the Ideal Flawless foundation (my oily skin melted it) and the eyeshadow quads (not pigmented enough for me!). The brand definitely has something for everyone, and at a great price to boot.




I already really like the brand's line of Nailwear Pro polishes, so was happy to hear that they've been upgraded and reformulated. Nailwear Pro+ contains calcium, keratin and, er, diamond dust to strengthen nails and ensure that your manicure lasts as long as possible. Now, we've heard a lot from nail companies over the last year or so that promise to last and last. I honestly feel that no matter what nail polish you use, you need a good base coat to extend the life of your manicure, and it's a step that I never skip. I also think that the same polish will wear differently on different people according to the strength and surface of their nails, their lifestyle, environment etc.


 In spite of my doubts, this is a very, very nice line of polishes that won't break the bank at €8. The bottles are pretty and I love how they come in a box - it's the little things! The line of colours is just impeccable and there isn't one I wouldn't wear. We have metallics, brights and pastels, which all seem to be en vogue right now...funny because I can't think of any other colour families really, can you?! Never mind, they are all very pretty and I like them a lot, especially the pastels. I had Coral Reef applied this evening and it's still looking good if a little dented, but that is 100% normal for me and my impatient hands!


 Now, mascara time. We are massive fans of Avon's Supershock mascaras, so I'm really excited to see how this one fares. Superextend Extreme is €13 and contains fibres to add length and hold a curl effectively. The wand is lovely and reminds me of the Max Factor Falsh Lash Effect wand, if a little longer. The mascara  is also available in a waterproof formula and comes in black, brown and navy. Keep an eye out for a full review of this coming soon!

  6. I agree I am also so very impressed with Avon.With the quality and the freshness of the colours.They also have different products fro different ages which helps really.
