Favourite Neutral Eye Look

I have been wanting to share this look with you all for awhile now. This has been my go-to neutral eye look for the past few months. It is simple and quick and super flattering. It uses only matte shadows which are my latest obsession but, it could easily be recreated using some shimmery/metallic shades if that's what you prefer.

NOTD: Rimmel Posh Trash and OPI Bring on the Bling

Today's NOTD comes courtesy of my mam's new favourite polish Rimmel Posh Trash from their Lycra Pro range. It's a muted metallic bronzey nude that is quite unique and really beautiful. And, because I'm a glitter obsessive, I paired in with OPI's Bring on the Bling on my thumb nail which ended up being a lovely combination!

Product Rave: Benefit Creaseless Cream Shadows

One of the most basic principles of make-up is that if you want it to last, you need a decent base. This is true for both foundation and eyeshadow. There has been a ridiculous amount of hype online about Urban Decay Primer Potion and although I do like it, I do find that blending eyeshadow can prove quite difficult with this product underneath.

I also have Too Faced Shadow Insurance which I also like because you only need a tiny amount, so the tube I have will last me forever. However, I do find that if left for a while, the product can separate which isn't great. So I usually only use these as bases if I want the colour impact to be super-strong.

My favourite eyeshadow bases are Benefit Creaseless Cream Shadows and I have three of them: Birthday Suit, Busy Signal and Strut.

Sinéad's February Favourites

Another month is coming to an end and, naturally, that means a whole host of new (and some old!) favourites to blog about. I actually acquired a few new things this month which had neither been planned nor expected so this is an exciting favourites post for me to do!

Hope you enjoy!

What's in Sinéad's Make-Up Bag...

It dawned on me, when I was unpacking from my recent trip to Carlow, that I should have shown you all what I pack in my travel make-up bag. What with going down there regularly, going to stay with my dad and going away on the occasional holiday, I have really learned to downsize what I bring and just make do with what I have. Next time it's packed, I will be sure to take some pictures but, until then, I thought I would show you what's in my "carry around" make-up bag that comes with me in my handbag.

5 of the Best Spring Lipsticks

Contrary to what looking out your window might tell you, it is, in fact, springtime. While the change of the seasons from winter to spring usually means green grass, daffodils and baby lambs, it also means a make-up overhaul. Gone are the winter darks and, instead, we can break out our brighter, happier colours. One of the easiest ways to transform your look from winter to spring is simply by changing the colour of your lippie. I shopped my (rather large) lipstick stash and found the colours that I want to wear this spring. Now, if only the sun would come out...!

Nail Art Special!

It's fair to say that we both have a bit of a thing for trashy, glittery nails, but I also love experimenting with nail art. I badly need some proper nail art pens to be able to give myself a proper WAH Nails-esque manicure, but here are two looks that are fairly easy to do without any fancy tools!

NOTD: Wild and Crazy Trashy Pink and GOSH Magic Star

I'm smothered with a cold at the moment and have been having a miserable day having had to struggle through a thesis meeting and skip the gym so, I thought I would do a fun and sparkley nail to perk me up a bit. The base is Wild and Crazy's Trashy Pink which I got last week and the glitter is, old faithful, GOSH Magic Star. I took a picture with flash so you could see the true colour of the pink (left) and without flash so the glitter would show up (right).

I really like this combo for spring/summer; very tropical and kind of reminds me of a Sex on the Beach cocktail! As a side note, I have really been enjoying these Wild and Crazy polishes. The quality, consistency and pigmentation is really awesome and I am definitely going to pick up a few more soon!

Love,

S x

Haul: (Mostly) Cheap Stuff!

Bourjois Healthy Mix Concealer, Essence Liquid Eyeliner, MUA Lipstick in Shade 11, Revlon Matte Lipstick in Stormy Pink

I've picked up a few things recently in Boots and Superdrug, which I've been meaning to blog about for far too long!

Dee's FOTD & NOTD!

First up, my NOTD is a lovely lilac shade with the most gorgeous, subtle hint of shimmer - Let's Mauve On! by Catrice. I've blogged before about how impressed I am with Catrice nail polishes, and at €2.79, they won't set you back too much. Lavender polishes were a massive craze last spring/summer and I don't see why they won't come back again this spring. I will be wearing them regardless as this is my fourth lavender nail polish!!

Next up, FOTD:

The 4-Product Challenge

This post was inspired by Michele1218's video on YouTube on the only four products she genuinely needs in the mornings to go to work- concealer, mascara, eyeliner and lipstick. This got me thinking as there are days when I will go out totally bare-faced but, then there are other days when I will use an innumerable amount of products to create a look. So, I wanted to challenge myself (and you) to pick products that I would have to have if all my make-up was taken away in the morning- perish the thought! Brushes don't count!

NOTD: OPI Lincoln Park After Dark

A bit drab and depressing but, this blackened burgundy plum polish from OPI is one of my absolute favourites.

My auntie is called Deirdre as well but apparently I'm not really named after her? My mother is a confusing woman.

Review: theBalm

theBalm is the latest cosmetics line that uber-popular high-street retailer A|Wear has added to their stores. Born by Marissa Shipman out of a desire to have a few simple products to make her feel fabulous, theBalm is touted to rival high-end cosmetics line Benefit- at a fraction of the price. No arguments there, right?

It has become an internationally bestselling brand and has been used by make-up artists on the sets of popular TV shows Gossip Girl and The X Factor as well as the Sex and the City 2 movie.

The lovely folks over at A|Wear sent us over some products from the line to try out and we both took the chance to play around with the products so we could both give you our verdicts!

TAG: Getting To Know Sinead Better

We were tagged by Laura AKA Fitz N Bitz to do this tag so, without further ado, here it is!

1. Are you named after anyone?

There's a running joke in my family that I was named after Sinead O'Connor but, as far as I know, my name was just a toss up between Siobhain and Sinead.

NOTD: Chanel Vendetta and OPI Rising Star

It's been awhile since we've had a thoroughly obnoxious and blinged out NOTD on here so I thought I would oblige!

I got OPI Rising Star at the start of January and have had some trouble using it as over light polishes it ends up looking like your nails are speckled in dirt. However, pairing it with a dark polish really makes the glitter...glittery and stand out.

I used it here with Sally Hansen Hard as Wraps Hard as Nails as my base because my nails are in awful condition and Sally Hansen Mirror Shine as a top coat so the glitter wouldn't be rough and grainy to the touch.

My New Favourite Lipstick: MAC Rebel

If you're a regular reader you'll know that I have a serious lipstick
fetish. I recently back to MAC'd for this beauty (I had to laugh at them not giving me a box, I mean who cares?!) and I'm in love with it.

Product Rave: YSL Touche Éclat

This one is an oldie but a goodie!

As I have said before, I don't really "do" concealer. Thankfully, I don't generally need it but, when I do, it never seems to sit well on my skin. So, what I have been using for well over a year now is my YSL Touche Éclat.

Yes, this product is pricey (approx. €28) but, it does last forever, even with almost daily use. AND it's multi-purpose.

Review: Shellac Nails

In my opinion, Shellac sure aren't all they are cracked up to be.

The concept behind them- a long-lasting, hard-wearing manicure, is genius. Who wouldn't want that?

Unfortunately, in my experience, that is not quite what you get.

NOTD: Chanel Paradoxal and GOSH Magic Star

My previous NOTD, GOSH's Frou-Frou did not chip for the four days I had it on, despite the fact that I was weight-training and typing an awful lot. Very impressed. Naturally, I got bored and took it off so, today's NOTD is Chanel Paradoxal with GOSH's Magic Star on top!

Sinéad's Favourite Foundations

I have been meaning to do this post since Dee did it awhile ago but, just forgot until the lovely Laura AKA FitzNBitz requested this post today and reminded me!

When it comes to things like foundation, we really feel it's important that we both do our own posts as we are two different skin types. I have normal skin while Dee has combination so, if her post would suit you better, you can check it out here.

TAG: 10 Products I Can't Live Without

What 10 products could you not live without?!

NOTD: OPI We'll Always Have Paris

I heart this nail polish. I love how dark it is without being boring or flat - it is best described as a blackened dark red. I also love the name of the shade as I actually got it when I was living in Paris for a few months! :)

Review: MUA Eyeshadows

I first heard about these eyeshadows over on the lovely Karen's blog and have been dying to give them a try ever since. MUA is a range that, as far as I know, is only available in Superdrug. Everything from the range is €1.20 so I figured that even if they were only mediocre they were still well worth a shot.

Sinéad's Make-Up Collection and Storage

My all-time favourite blog posts and YouTube videos are of people's make-up collections and how they choose to store it. I think it must be the nosy parker in me coming out, wanting a  sneak peek into people's lives- even if it's just something as small as their make-up!

I always find that I am really inspired to re-organise my stuff and try new ways of storage so, I thought you guys might like to see mine! Once I have a bit of spare cash I will probably come up with a new system as this one is getting full and, once I do, I'll show you that too!

Enjoy!

NOTD x3!

Yet another nail-related post...here are three of my most recent NOTDs!

Glitter French Nails

NOTD: GOSH Frou-Frou (#064)

Today's NOTD comes courtesy of GOSH's Frou-Frou. This colour is absolutely amazing. It's a metallic combination of pink, silver and gold and is a really lovely neutral nail colour without being boring.

Dramatic Eye Look

This eye look started out as a mistake which I ended up turning into something quite dramatic. I almost wasn't going to put it up because I don't think it necessarily appeals to everyone but then I thought that since I had, surprisingly, ended up loving it on myself, some of you might too!

TAG: Products I regret buying

There are always those few products that are surrounded by so much hype that you HAVE to have them and, when you get them, they are not quite what you expected/wanted/needed. I was shopping my stash earlier this week and came across a few products that I bought, used once or twice and cast aside in sheer disappointment and thought that I would blog about them to save you all the heartache and wasted money!

Review: Bare Minerals Eyeshadows and Liners

On a bit of a roll here! While I loved the Bare Minerals Mineral Veil I got to try out, I am a bit on the fence about the eye colours and liners. I have been playing around with them all week and, while there is no doubt that the colours, pigmentation, blendability and quality is superb, I am not sure that they are conducive to my kind of make-up.

Review: Bare Minerals Mineral Veil

Some of you may recall, I recently got some Bare Minerals products to try out from my boyfriend's mam. One of these was their Mineral Veil. It is described on their website as an award-winning mineral powder that "gives you a flawless finish that's too good to miss," and, I wholeheartedly support this statement.

The product is super duper light-weight and makes the skin look airbrushed and flawless like they claim. I have tried it over my NARS Sheer Glow foundation as well as over another powder product, my MAC MSFN, and neither of the times did I look powdery, ghostly pale or cakey. It just seemed to lock my base in place and settle into the skin, camouflaging any imperfections and highlighting all the areas we like highlighted; cheekbones, temples, nose bridge, Cupid's bow.

NOTD: Models Own Purple Ash

I love posting NOTDs seeing as I paint my nails so often! The first time I wore this polish I really wasn't gone on it but it has actually grown on me loads. For a 'neutral' this is quite an interesting colour - kind of a mauvey taupe. The consistency is great and wears really well. Let me know what you think!

Benefit Bella Bamba: A Review

I wasn't going to post on this as I've already read a few different posts about Bella Bamba over the last couple of weeks, but I decided it is still worth raving about. So if you find this post a little repetitive, I'm sorry!

Jewel-Toned Nail Polishes

Recently, I've been buying loads of nail polishes.

If you know me, this will hardly come as a shock. I can't stop buying nail polishes. My collection is beginning to frighten those who don't understand! However, if you are reading this I will presume you are sympathetic to my addiction.
