YSL Rouge Pur Couture Golden Lustre: First Look and Swatches

As lipstick fiends, YSL ranks high up there in our preferences. I am a diehard fan of the original Rouge Pur line and Dee has been coveting a Rouge Volupte for the longest time.

So, when we got word that a new range of Rouge Pur Couture lipsticks would be hitting counters soon, we were hanging on the brand's every word to find out more about the thirteen new Golden Lustres (€31.00).

With a silky smooth texture, the Rouge Pur Couture Golden Lustre line is formulated around a fusion of gold reflects and colour. A mixture of yellow, white and pink gold pearls give rise to the line's name and are instrumental in delivering the smooth and even wash of colour that makes these lipsticks so, so worth it!

The thirteen shades range in colour from the palest of nudes to the richest violet so, most everyone will find at least one Golden Lustre to suit their preferences. We got two shades to play with; #107 Rose Boréale; a rosey nude that gives a "my lips but better" effect, and #112 Rouge de Venise a deceptively sheer red, and, as everyday shades, these are both breathtakingly gorgeous.

The packaging is, as with all YSL cosmetics, luxe to the max but, it is the product itself which steels the show. These lipsticks are sheer, though not with a glossy finish, and are slightly frosted which, Dee and I both agree, isn't as bad as we once thought it to be!

The shades are buildable but, not to the point of creating a bold lip. Even Rouge de Venise which looks like a deep red in the bullet is actually a pinky-orangey red when applied. The pearls of the golds are very obvious in both shades and add a stunning level of dimension to the lips when applied. I thought, initially, that they would look slightly granny-ish but, thankfully, that's not at all the case!

Let's not beat around the bush, €31.00 is a big chunk of change for a lipstick, even if it is a luxurious lippie like this one! However, because the formula is so light, these are literally lipsticks that you could wear everyday which, in my book, justifies the spend.
