Lord knows I love a good candle. My desk is covered with part-burned jars of every shape, size and scent; cinnamon, spices, vanilla cupcake, I have them all!
Needless to say I was bloomin’ ecstatic when a candle from Roger & Gallet landed on my desk. We’re huge fans of the Parisian brand with the Bois d’Orange Hand Cream being among my hero products for winter so, to combine the sumptuous scents of the brand with a luxury candle is sheer genius.
This is the candle in Fleur d’Osmanthus (the other scent is Bois d’Orange) and would ya just take a look at the gorgeous packaging. The massive 220g of wax is housed in a heavy frosted glass tumbler with a very tasteful representation of the brands logo on the front in a gorgeous taupe-gold print, no obnoxious splash of full-colour branding here!
As for the scent, well, I really like it. Top notes are of sweet orange bark, mandarin and grapefruit with osmanthus and neroli at the heart and tonka, benzoin and sandalwood as the base. Yeah, I don’t really know what half of them are either but, combined, they smell sweetly and freshly of spring. Normally, at this time of year, I gravitate largely towards the aforementioned cinnamon and spice scents but, Fleur d’Osmanthus is a welcome relief from the heavy, heady Christmas notes but, the orange scents definitely help keep it smelling marginally festive. Oh, and I’ve found it great from getting rid of cooking smells too which is perfect for the festive season!
With 60 hours of burning time, the €22.50 cost is more than justified I think. The candles are limited edition so, I’d recommend snapping them up as soon as possible. They’ll make great, substantial Christmas presents and would be lovely to give as a housewarming gift as well, especially as the neutral packaging means it will sit nicely in any room.
What candle are you loving at the moment?
